🌍 Celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2025 🔬 Biodiversity loss and climate change don’t affect everyone equally. According to UN Women’s "Gender and Biodiversity" brief, in many regions, women are the primary collectors of water, food, and firewood: resources directly threatened by environmental degradation. 🌊 🥑 🪵 Just to give you a practical example, biodiversity loss can increase the time women spend collecting water (this is already happening in sub-Saharan Africa). In environments where livelihoods depend on such activities, this drastically reduces women's opportunities for education and economic participation, which in turn affects their chances to become #WomenInScience.
