WHAT´S ON WEDNESDAY! If you are up in the Soller area then the next few days are going to be busy! From August 24 – 27 there are the Fiestas de Sant Bortomeu en Soller. Soller takes five days to celebrate its patron saint to whom the local church is dedicated. Events include live music, a fire run and of course pyrotechnics. Another opportunity to enjoy local customs and traditions of the Soller valley. Meanwhile, down in Puerto Portals you can watch the most amazing sporting event, it's the equivalent of F1, but on a yacht!  The 52 Super Series season began in April with the Palmavela Sailing Week, continued in Newport (USA), and now arrives at Puerto Portals next week from 27th August to 1st September for the Puerto Portals 52 Super Series Sailing Week 2024. It's a great time to visit the port and marvel at these beautiful examples of naval engineering! Kay’s advice applies to everyone looking to have a holiday in the sun in a rental villa. So take heed, and don’t get stung! Destination and Planning: The first step in finding the ideal holiday villa is to choose your destination and plan ahead. Consider starting your search at LEAST 6 months in advance to have the best selection of villas available. Planning early will also give you more flexibility in terms of dates and amenities. Dates and Duration: Only rent a property with an ETV licence: By law in Mallorca any rental property has to be registered and licensed with the government. This means the property will have been inspected and reached a certain standard, it ensures that the property owners have liability insurance which is important in case of any accidents in the property and it means that you can check that the property actually exists as you can check a registry online. These measures are to protect the potential holiday maker, and also regulate the quality of the properties available. Whenever you enquire about a property make sure you ask for the licence number and make sure you do your research! Choose a Reputable Agent: Select an agent who is based in the location you intend to visit. Opting for a boutique agent specialising in a specific country increases the likelihood of personalised service and in-depth knowledge of the villas and their owners. Personal Communication: Whenever possible, speak to the agent over the telephone to ensure a more personalised service and verify the legitimacy of the company. Unfortunately, there are fraudulent websites that deceive people, so it's crucial to establish genuine communication. Review the Contract: Carefully read through the rental contract before making any payments. Pay attention to payment terms, cancellation policies, and how the company handles disputes or complaints. Secure Payment: Whenever possible, opt to pay by credit card for added protection in case of any issues or potential fraud. Villa Inspection: Upon arrival at the villa, take the time to ensure everything meets your expectations. Check for cleanliness and functionality of fittings and fixtures, and report any issues immediately to give the management team the best opportunity to address them during your stay. Renting a holiday villa can be a fantastic way to create lasting memories with loved ones. By following these tips and taking a thoughtful approach to your villa rental search, you can look forward to a relaxing and enjoyable holiday experience in Mallorca or any other destination you choose.

Our Top Tip for this weekend, the 17 – 19 May. Visit the Capdepera Medieval Fair. It's an annual highlight for the town which is transformed into a medieval fortress.
