When The Shit Hits The Fan… 👨🔧 a repair may be needed even underwater. This is the case when a subsea pipeline suffers a damage that compromises its integrity. #Composites have proven to be a great solution to repair this type of damage easily and quickly, ensuring the consistency of the pipeline without the need for major works in a very complicated environment 🌊 First the pipe surface is cleaned, then a primer is applied and, in this case, a rigid reinforcement is used to ensure the mechanical reinforce of the pipeline. The last step is to wrap the pipe with composite so that the repaired section is even stronger than the original piece ✅ What do you think of this use of composites and what other uses for complex repairs can you think of? 💥 Exciting News from Our Community! 💥 Some time ago, we organized a startup contest to highlight young and promising initiatives in the #composites sector, as part of our commitment to "Spreading the Word." 🏆 We’re thrilled to announce that Alformet was one of the winners and has recently launched a configurator on their website! This #innovative tool allows companies to design their own fiber-reinforced thermoplastic tubes, specifying shapes, thicknesses, diameters, and more, all produced using Laser Assisted Tape Winding for high-performance results. 👀 Check out the short video showcasing their manufacturing technology, and don’t miss the chance to visit their website! Link to the tube configurator 👉 https://lnkd.in/gKNBvxRz Congratulations, Alformet! Together, we continue to drive innovation in our industry 💪

📢 MC CLASSICS! 📢 Have a look at this amazing video of a push-out test in fiber matrix composites! 👀 Dedicated fibre push-out tests in fibre matrix #composites can be used to calculate the interfacial critical energy release rate. These samples were polished to a thickness of 200 µm, and the multicycle test consisted of 5 cycles with 100 mN increase on every cycle up to a maximum of 500 mN. The diamond flat punch has a diameter of 7.5 µm. 😳 This approach is used to measure the interfacial fracture resistance in SiC/BN/SiC CMCs! 🕵🏻♀️ Source: Article "Mode I and Mode II interfacial fracture energy of SiC/BN/SiC CMCs" written by Oriol Gavaldà Díaz, Riccardo Manno, António Rui Melro, Giuliano Allegri, Stephen Hallett, Luc Vandeperre, Eduardo Saiz and Finn Giuliani. With a top speed of 350 km/h (217mph) and 1,200 hp, the Ferrari F80 is the most powerful Ferrari road car of Il Cavallino brand 🐴 🚗 Its entire bodyshell is made of pre-preg carbon fiber and cured in the autoclave as they do with their racing cars, and the cell of the chassis and roof are made of different composites. 🚦 The braking system is developed in collaboration with Brembo and uses a technology Ferrari calls CCM-R Plus, which uses longer carbon fibers to improve mechanical strength (+100%) and thermal conductivity (+300%) over the previous-generation solution. 🏎️ The #F80 is configured as 1+, with an asymmetrical layout in which the driver is slightly forward of the occupant and displaced towards the center, with the control panel facing the driver to provide maximum control while driving. What do you think of Ferrari's latest launch? Will it get a place of honor as the brand intends with models such as the GTO, the F40 and LaFerrari❓ Let us know in the comments 👇 DISCLAIMER: The information shared by us here on LinkedIn regarding a specific project is solely for informational purposes and does not constitute an endorsement or confirmation of our direct contribution, participation, or collaboration in the said project unless stated otherwise.

📢 MC Classics 📢 How to laminate a huge yacht? 🛳️ Look at its size!!! 😮💨 Let's talk about the #composites manufacturing process that is by far, the best suited for time-lapses! 📹 We are talking, of course, about resin #infusion, a fascinating process that is widely spread in the industry! 👀 Resin infusion is a sophisticated technique for manufacturing high-performance, void-free composites even on large or complicated molds. In this manufacturing process, reinforcement is laid into the mold ‘‘dry’’, i.e. without any resin, and then enclosed in a specially configured stack of bagging materials (such as peel-ply, infusion mesh, and bagging film) before being subjected to vacuum pressure using a vacuum pump 🧐 Once all the air has been removed from the bag and the reinforcement has been fully compressed under this pressure, liquid resin (mixed with hardener) is introduced to the reinforcement through a pipe which then infuses through the reinforcement under the vacuum pressure. Once the resin has fully infused through the reinforcement, the supply of resin is cut off and the resin is left to cure, still under vacuum pressure. 😎 This video shows the hull of Sasga Yachts SL' Menorquin 55 being manufactured at Barracuda Yacht Design! 😍
