The MAPFRE Innovation Summit 2025 in Brazil was an incredible gathering of industry leaders driving the future of insurance and technology across Latin America. This research aims to drive the insurance sector forward and strengthen the entrepreneurial ecosystem across the region. The event also featured a variety of insightful discussions on the challenges in LatAm’s insurance market and how technology can overcome them. Embedded insurance, the potential of B2B and B2B2C models, AI-driven underwriting, and the rise of climate risks are all unlocking new avenues for innovation. The consensus? Innovation is not merely an option—it’s essential for addressing the region’s needs and closing the insurance protection gap. At Mundi Ventures, we invest at the intersection of insurance and multiple industries. Mundi Ventures invests in LAIIER’s $4M seed extension round! 🌊 We are thrilled to announce that our portfolio company LAIIER, a leader in liquid leak detection technology, has successfully closed an oversubscribed $4 million seed extension funding round. This round was led by Closed Loop Partners Ventures Group, with participation from Mundi Ventures, Burnt Island Ventures, and several new investors. LAIIER's innovative Severn WLD™ technology is set to revolutionise how commercial and industrial buildings manage water and liquid risks, addressing the staggering $19 billion in annual damages caused by liquid leaks. Since our initial investment in July 2022, we have witnessed LAIIER's remarkable growth and development of its proprietary solutions. This funding will enable them to accelerate their expansion across North America and enhance their product offerings. This milestone marks an important step forward in their mission to transform healthcare accessibility in Brazil. The Series B extension round was led by Mundi Ventures and StoneX Brasil, with continued support from key investors, including monashees, Valor Capital Group, Redpoint eventures, DN Capital and ENSEADA FAMILY OFFICE. As Featured in Bloomberg, this funding will propel "Sami 2.0" enabling the company to focus on the development of innovative products to expand healthcare access in underserved regions of Brazil in parallel to achieving a financial breakeven. Week before last, Mundi Ventures team was in Sao Paulo to participate in CQCS Insurtech & Inovação, the largest insurance and innovation event in Latin America. Represented by our partner Rafaela Andrade and principal Javier S. we contributed to the panel "Sandbox, Reinsurance, and Venture Capital - Innovation Paths for Insurance" together with Camila Calais, parter of Mattos Filho and Rafaela Barreda, CEO of Lloyds International Brazil. It was a great opportunity to catch up with the top insurance companies present in the region as well as startups and brokers to discuss emerging topics in the use of technology, specially artificial intelligence and gen AI within the insurance industry.
