Is there a one-size fits all marketing procurement template? Approximately 25 years ago the first FMCG companies started implementing new marketing procurement models to manage their marketing POS spend. The models range from preferred supplier models up to single outsourced solutions. For sure, these transformations bring initial value for the clients, but the benefits tend to decrease over time and turn in many occasions into mere ‘butler services’ (taking the liberty to quote an observation made by a client). Today many brand companies, especially those who have matured models in place, try to explore alternative solutions, to further improve alignment on objectives, needs, and value expectations. This is partly caused by the ongoing changes at POS and competitive environments, new KPI’s to be observed, but also sometimes by a mismatch between the by now standardised service solutions and client specific needs in terms agility and flexibility.
