However, given the 74 nurses on shifts, 8 caregivers, and 53 beds plus 8 chairs for day stays in the Cardiovascular Clinic, monitoring every patient at all times is impractical. Despite efforts to recruit more personnel, including through tenders and scholarships, the current nursing shortage persists. Implementing a #remotepatientmonitoring solution for unassisted movements during hospital stays could significantly enhance patient safety, reduce fall risks, optimize staff utilization, and improve operational efficiency. Through the HealthChain I3 project, co-funded by the European Commission, KBC Rijeka aims to address the MediLink challenge. ℹ️ Challenge description ℹ️ KBCRI Rijeka serves as the primary clinical center for the Primorsko-Goranska region, which includes remote mountainous settlements and islands in the northern Adriatic Sea. Due to their distance from KBCRI, local residents face significant challenges accessing specialist care. To address this, KBCRI has established agreements with remote health centers for periodic specialist visits. The KBCRI Strategy 2021 – 2025 aims to expand these visits and improve collaboration with family doctors through #telemedicine. A remote telemedicine platform or application would directly support these objectives by facilitating communication between KBCRI #cardiologists and #familydoctors treating patients in remote areas. Through the HealthChain I3 project, co-funded by the European Commission, Medisprof Cancer Center aims to address AITRIS challenge. ℹ️ Challenge description ℹ️ Radiologists interpreting scans for #cancer patients often face challenges in standardizing and efficiently documenting results. Current methods, including RECIST criteria, lack comprehensive adoption and fail to meet practical needs outside of clinical trials. This leads to inconsistent interpretations, complicating treatment decisions and patient follow-up. A digital assistant capable of analyzing and reporting scans using both RECIST and narrative formats could alleviate these issues. Through the HealthChain I3 project, co-funded by the European Commission, Hospital Los Montalvos aims to address iMOTION challenge. ℹ️ Challenge description ℹ️ In recent years, the need for #palliativecare has increased significantly, with 308,475 people in Spain (20,011 in Castilla y León) requiring it. However, only 40% of those needing specialized palliative care receive it. Castilla y León faces challenges in delivering this care due to its demographics and geography. The INTecum project, which has supported nearly 600 people, found that 20% of those needing support live alone. Effective, low-cost technological tools are essential for scaling palliative care to rural areas, enabling #remotemonitoring to avoid patient suffering. Both patients and families need a flexible support network from the start of the Integrated Palliative Care Process. Despite the high prevalence of psychological symptoms in advanced disease, only 50% receive necessary psychological help. 💡 Challenge main objectives 💡 The main objective is to detect the emotional state of palliative care patients for the palliative care team to consider in their personalized intervention plans, primarily at home. This aims to improve psychosocial support, emotional #wellbeing, and quality of life, preventing emotional #distress. However, this rapid discharge can lead to acute issues such as #hipdislocation, #fractures, or #infections post-surgery. Typically, patients' first follow-up with the surgeon occurs fourteen days after discharge, during which time they rely on family care without adequate medical oversight. Implementing self-assessment and direct communication with surgeons could significantly improve patient follow-up. While various signs and indicators may suggest #distress, individuals often conceal their feelings, making detection difficult. Existing pre-screening systems for #mentalhealth aim to identify at-risk individuals across different settings, yet there is a gap for a user-friendly, Slovene-language mobile application tailored to connect mental distress with potential medical conditions, essential for post-operative care. This condition not only impacts self-esteem and quality of life but also increases the risk of #chronicdiseases like #diabetes and #cardiovascular issues. Current healthcare practices rely on subjective assessments, often leading to inaccurate interventions. A tailored solution is needed to accurately collect data on physical activity, sedentary behavior, sleep patterns, and heart rate using an accelerometer. This data will enable personalized interventions and #remotemonitoring, optimizing #healthcare resources and promoting long-term physical activity through #gamification. 🔷Challenge main objectives: The goal is to enhance the intrinsic motivation of children with #obesity via gamification to consistently meet the daily exercise standard outlined by Flemish health recommendations for long-term physical activity.
