Yesterday the BHH Headquarters turned into winter wonderland with the BHH residents' families. The Hub was filled with kids learning the fascinating world of #digitalhealth and Barcelona Health Hub. ✨ The party reached its peak with the 'Caga Tió,' a Catalan tradition that brought smiles and sweets to the little ones. Thanks to everyone who brought their kids to the BHH Headquarters to celebrate Christmas! 🎅

📄New publication from the EU PE&PV Research Network co-authored by Teamit 's Fabio Riefolo, PharmD - PhD📄 A paper on incidence of severe and non-severe COVID-19 in children and adolescents has been published under the Covid Vaccine Monitoring (CVM) study part of the EU PE&PV Research Network led by Universiteit Utrecht (Utrecht University) in collaboration with VAC4EU - Vaccine Monitoring Collaboration for Europe. ❓Why was this research important? It is known that children are susceptible to COVID-19, and were vaccinated during the pandemic. However, what is less investigated is the rate of severe COVID-19 in children and young people in different countries and settings, especially in the presence of comorbidities (pre-existing health conditions). Researchers wanted to answer this question. 🔬How was the research conducted? Using health record data from 5.6 million children and adolescents in Italy, Spain, and Norway, researchers performed an in-depth analysis to uncover patterns and trends. 📈What did researchers find? Researchers found that severe COVID-19 was generally rare in children and young people. However the incidence rate (number of cases of COVID-19) was up to 3-4x higher in children with comorbidities during the Omicron variant peak. 🔍Why does this matter? These findings are critical for shaping future COVID-19 vaccination strategies, ensuring that we prioritise and protect the most vulnerable children against severe disease.
