W'wave® optimizes wind in wind farms. We provide patented technology to optimize existing wind conditions in wind farms, so that wind operators and developers can: · maximize its energy output, · minimize the cost of energy, · build more powerful wind farms (installing more turbines) in a given development area, · build more compact wind farms (installing the same number of turbines and power in a reduced development area), avoiding conflictive areas. Our concept materializes in WindWaves: a new hardware component for wind farms, supported by in-house computational fluid and product software. We have different product models: Permanent WindWaves: made of steel and anchored to the ground, they are designed to last >20 years. Different models adapt to the different site conditions. Potential hybridization with solar PV modules to increase efficiency of wind farm even further. Temporary WindWaves (a.k.a. BioWindWaves): made of agricultural straw bales, they are meant to be installed temporarily in a wind farm and replaced by new straw bales periodically. BioWindWaves has relevant synergies and simbiosis with the agricultural, livestock and biomass/biogas industries, by representing a way to stock economically agricultural straw in the long-term, to be reused in its traditional applications when straw is most needed (i.e.: when short-term stocks are depleted e.g.: due to ever more frequent droughts due to Climate Change). With our innovation we are in a mission to contribute to a better, more competitive wind industry to continue the World's effort to fight #climatechange.   • Let's produce wind energy with agricultural straw.   In today’s #EarthDay, W'wave presents its new #BioWindWaves, a new solution for two problems:   Problem 1: Many wind farms in the World run the risk to be unprofitable and/or are below its production expectations (i.e.: <P50).   IntelStor, the renowned renewable energy market research and business strategy consulting firm, has identified a staggering 14GW of onshore wind energy projects in the US that are unprofitable. And a high amount underperforming production-wise in relation to expectations (<P50). Check out their analysis -> https://lnkd.in/dKQ2VudT   Problem 2: Climate change, with its impact in the higher frequency of droughts, can severely reduce periodically the agricultural straw production on which the agricultural, livestock and biomass/biogas industries rely.   To tackle these problems, W'wave presents a novel approach: Optimizing the wind resource in wind farms so that its wind turbines can harvest more energy at lower cost-of-energy #LCoE. How can we improve the wind resource of a wind farm? We do it through our #WindWaves, a new hardware component for wind farms that improves artificially the wind speed, wind shear and turbulence intensity in wind farms.   Windwaves were first designed as permanent structures, typically made out of steel, to be installed in wind farms, anchoring them to the ground through piling or by building a foundation.   However, in order to provide our Customers with a more agile and certain way to install WindWaves in their wind farms, W'wave has developed a new and advantageous product: BioWindWaves.   Crafted from straw bales in a Lego-like structure, BioWindWaves offer a low-cost, low-risk, #modular, #circular and #sustainable solution for wind resource optimization.   In addition to the benefits for the wind energy industry, BioWindWaves create a new way to stock agricultural straw in the long-term, to reuse it in times of straw scarcity.   It is thus a new way to mitigate the impacts of Climate Change, hybridizing agricultural biomass and wind energy, and opening up a new wave of collaboration between the agricultural industry and the wind industry.   • Mind the Gap! Between Wind 🌬️ and Solar🌞 PPA prices. LevelTen Energy's analysis (see graph below) reveals a widening gap in average Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) prices between wind and solar projects in Europe and the US since mid-2020.
