Our recent visit to the Paris International Agricultural Show (SIA) was delightful and productive. Recognized as one of the world's largest and most important agricultural shows, SIA celebrated its 60th anniversary by hosting over 600,000 visitors. During this event, we observed the achievements of French producers in the field of sustainable production, exchanged ideas with industry professionals, and explored the latest innovations that are transforming the agricultural industry.
One aspect that particularly caught our attention were the latest advancements in the food certification system by Nouveaux Champs. This collective of French producers is committed to an agricultural and environmental progress approach, several of these producers are using hydroponics to lower the consumption of natural resources.
Nouveaux Champs is well respected in the fresh food industry for bringing to life the Label Zéro Résidu de Pesticides , which offers a 3rd path between intensive farming and organic farming. We took the opportunity to learn more about their newly created Biodiversity Label with Noé , with the idea to emulate such initiatives in Spain. These labels enable consumers to quickly identify producers with a strong commitment to human and environmental health, aligning well with the values of Cornucopia.
Additionally, we explored best practices leveraging sustainable technology, where France is a leading country, such as Biogas production from methanization in collaboration with the support of public entities like GRDF This technique minimizes our ecological footprint by converting waste into green energy, illustrating a sustainable cycle.
We also had the opportunity to visit producers leveraging sustainable packaging that is fully compostable. There we have seen how hemp fiber is transformed into single-use cups, shells into glasses, or even algae into painting. Hemp has been a key material for ancient Gauls over 2,000 years ago, and Europe is a fertile ground to grow carbon-negative hemp for the textile, construction or aeronautics industries. We aim to leverage such innovation in the design of our furniture and facilities.
Furthermore, we have enjoyed our visit to the fifth edition of Agri ’Expo, an educational space that promotes circular economy by valorizing waste from agricultural activity into base materials to produce beautiful objects.
Finally, we appreciated the efforts of the Salon de l’Agriculture in education and edutainment of the young generation toward sustainability and bio production. It is essential that the new generation shows the way on how to transform our future.
This experience enriched us with knowledge of best practices, demonstrating that environmentally friendly agriculture is not only viable but also brings tangible benefits to our surroundings and communities. 🌍♻️🥬🐞
