So what's new in the luxury hotel scene? Aman Resorts, the pinnacle of secluded luxury, is introducing a new concept with its brand Janu, starting in Tokyo. Aman's known for its eye-watering rates and private villas, but Janu is flipping the script. Set to open its doors in central Tokyo today, March 13, Janu is all about blending luxury with accessibility. With rates starting at about $944 per night, Janu is positioned as a more affordable counterpart to Aman, yet it's still on the higher end for Tokyo accommodations. The fully booked opening day and anticipated 70% occupancy in the first month are telling signs of its appeal. But what really sets Janu apart is its aim to connect guests with the local scene, contrasting Aman's typical secluded luxury. The question is, will this new approach resonate with travelers and locals alike? Janu is not just about staying the night. With eight dining options and a massive wellness area, it's challenging the norm of luxury hotels steering clear of extensive food and beverage offerings due to Tokyo's competitive dining scene.
