MARFAN SYNDROME: is prognosis related to sex? ✍ Dra Gisela T. leads REPAG registry and recently exposed the results of their research in the Spanish Cardiology Meeting #SEC24 ✍ Dr Fernando Cabrera-Bueno was the speaker and elegantly presented all data and evidence on sex-differences in presentation and prognosis ✍ N=442; 48,2 % ♀️ Variables related to free survival of aortic event: - Female sex 0.38 (0.27-0.55) p<0.001 - Age at diagnosis 0.90 (0.88-0.91) p<0.001 - Marfan Syndrome diangosis prior to event 0.07 (0.05-0.12) p<0.001 - Systemic Score 1.06 (1.06-1.12) p<0.024 ✍ Aortic elective intervention was more frequent in ♂️ 66.7% vs 52.8% ✍ Type A dissection was similar ♂️and ♀️ 26.7% vs 26.4% ✍ Type B dissection was more frequent in ♀️ 4.2% vs 15.3% These findings could suggest a less aggressive manifestation of proximal aortic disease in women with Marfan Syndrome.
