👥 PeerHD - New Study seeking UB Predoctoral Researchers! 🦖
This week we officially kicked off a new research project, "PeerHD – Evaluating the effectiveness of a peer-coaching for improving PhD outcomes", a university-wide initiative which we hope will help address the critical state of mental health in research, supported by a grant from the Institut de Desenvolupament Professional of the University of Barcelona.
Predoctoral researchers are far more likely to develop mental health issues during their work than other similar knowledge workers, an issue which not only affects the researchers themselves, but also has tremendous societal cost. Existing approaches are often too costly or time-intensive.
PeerHD will assess the potential impact of peer-coaching for PhDs, which looks well-suited for:
1️⃣ Taking time to clarify one's goals
2️⃣ Providing a much needed source of support and understanding
3️⃣ Becoming more efficient and effective in a challenging environment
4️⃣ Doing all this with (mounting) time pressure!
You can read more about it here:

See the above link for how to sign up (right now, just for University of Barcelona researchers pursuing a PhD). Ultimately, we hope to promote a culture of coaching in research in which everyone can develop to their full potential!
Pictured here are some of the other project members, Mercè Bernardo Sucet M. Vesna Vlaisavljevic Karla Hernández del Valle, Ph.D. Johana Sierra Alfonso Hernandez-Vivanco . Additionally, we are deeply grateful to Coaching On the Go, Phil Renshaw and Jenny Robinson PhD for their generous support and inspiring book, which informs much of our approach.
