Africa CDC’s Continental Strategy on Climate Change and Health 2025-2029, finalised recently in Kampala by multi-sectoral stakeholders, sets the path to reduce climate-related health risks, empower communities, and equip health workers and policymakers. The strategy emphasises coordinated efforts and a One Health approach, engaging climate-responsive stakeholders to build adaptive and resilient health systems. With the 5-year framework costed, we are developing policy briefs and a business case to mobilise resources for implementation. We aim to ensure Africa’s health systems thrive and remain resilient amid climate challenges. #OneHealth #ClimateChange #NewPublicHealth

#Tanzania’s 80% drop in maternal mortality – from 556 to 104 deaths per 100,000 live births (2015/16–2022) – reflects strong political will, expanded Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric & Newborn Care (CEmONC) centres, improved referrals through the M-Mama Project & skilled healthcare workers. 🌍 To learn from this success, Africa CDC facilitated a continental visit with 12 AU member states, where delegates: ✅ Engaged with Tanzania’s Ministry of Health ✅ Attended Maternal and Perinatal Death Review sessions ✅ Visited rural CEmONC facilities

Le Directeur Général d'Africa CDC, Dr. Jean Kaseya, s'est rendu ce weekend au site de vaccination de Pakadjuma, dans la zone de santé de Limeté à Kinshasa, République Démocratique du Congo. Cette visite, axée sur l'évaluation des campagnes de vaccination, reflète l'engagement d'Africa CDC à accompagner les États membres dans la lutte contre les épidémies. Au cours de cette mission, Dr. Kaseya a échangé avec des femmes ayant surmonté le Mpox. Ces témoignages, précieux pour l'adaptation des réponses sanitaires et des efforts de prévention, renforcent notre mission de mettre les communautés au centre de nos actions. En parallèle, le Dr. Kaseya a visité l'Institut National de Recherche Biomédicale (INRB) pour solidifier le partenariat stratégique entre Africa CDC et les institutions de recherche en Afrique. Ces collaborations sont essentielles pour renforcer les capacités de recherche et d'innovation sur le continent.
