  • Successfully Conducted the Final Pitch Competition of the HEPSSA Hackathon! In collaboration with BiT, Bahir Dar University, we proudly hosted the final round of the HEPSSA Hackathon, where the top 10 ideas, selected from over 70 applicants, pitched to compete for the top 3 spots. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to this success: ✅ Our dedicated team for screening and selecting the best 10 ideas. ✅ Today’s judge for their valuable time, insightful feedback, and expert suggestions for the top 10 participants. ✅ Mr Henok Mebratie who trained our shortlist to shape their pitching. ✅Our esteemed guests from various industries and organizations for their support and presence. ✅ Dr muluken zegeye Getie, for delivering the opening remarks. ✅ Prof. Seifu Tilahun our keynote speakermfor their inspiring and insightful messages. ✅ Our international Team leads(Dr Evi Viza, CQP CQI MIET FRSA Prof. Amos Omamo) who joined online and shared their encouragement. ✅ Our partners(University of the West of Scotland Meru University of Science and Technology (MUST) ) and the funders (Royal Academy of Engineering) this project for their unwavering support.   • Empowering Innovation and Entrepreneurship in Engineering As part of the HEPSSA Project, Agelgil Eco Packaging, in collaboration with Bahir Dar University and funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering, successfully organized a Research, Innovation, and Entrepreneurship Training for over 70 engineering students from Bahir Dar Institute of Technology, Bahir Dar University (BiT) and EiTEX Bahir Dar University. The training aimed to inspire and equip students with the skills to lead research initiatives, develop innovative solutions, and explore entrepreneurial ventures. It began with a speech by Afomia Andualem, CEO of Agelgil Eco Packaging, who highlighted the importance of social responsibility and community impact. This was followed by an opening remark from Dr. Amare Kassw Yimer , encouraging students to think beyond traditional boundaries and embrace innovation. The two-day training, delivered by expert trainers, also featured insights from Dr. Geta Kidane Mariam, the project lead at Bahir Dar University, on the project’s purpose and future direction. The event concluded with a certificate ceremony led by Dr. Bereket, recognizing participants for their commitment and achievements. We are proud of the dedication shown by these future leaders in engineering and innovation. This initiative reflects our commitment to empowering youth, advancing education, and contributing to sustainable community development. We are Pleased to announce that Agelgil Eco-Packaging is a proud industry partner for the Higher Education Partnerships in sub-Saharan Africa (HEP SSA) Project, funded by the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering . This remarkable program offers grants to universities in sub-Saharan Africa, dedicated to addressing the engineering skills shortage on the continent through academia-industry collaborations. The HEP SSA programme ensures that higher education institutions in sub-Saharan Africa produce engineers equipped with the skills and knowledge to meet industry needs and tackle both local and global challenges. Activities such as 🔹 Curriculum review and development 🔹 Joint-research projects 🔹 Academia-industry secondments 🔹 Training and workshops 🔹 Innovation and entrepreneurship initiatives As part of this Project key Activities, HEP SSA team visited the University of the West of Scotland United Kingdom. This visit included themed workshops, conferences, presentations, and discussions, providing an incredible platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration. At Agelgil, we deeply value the importance of STEM education in creating a better future and a healthier planet. We are committed to supporting the education system in producing students with the knowledge and skill sets necessary for tomorrow’s challenges.
