About us
Ethiopian Mediation and Arbitration Center (EMAC) was first set up as a non-governmental organization (NGO) and was originally known as Ethiopian Arbitration and Conciliation Center (EACC). It was inaugurated on 7th August 2004, in the presence of the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Justice and the Supreme Court Vice President. It was established by a group of Ethiopian lawyers to promote and provide alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in Ethiopia. Through the promotion of accessible Mediation and Arbitration, the centre provided and facilitated the resolution of disputes in a non-adversarial environment by providing a less costly and time-saving service than court litigation.
