1. Resumption of session
The sitting opened at 17.05.
2. Statements by the President
The President paid tribute to Anna Lindh, the Swedish Minister for Foreign Affairs and former President-in-Office of the Council, who had died on 11 September 2003 following an attack.
He noted that he had sent, in his own name and on behalf of Parliament, his condolences to Anna Lindh's family, friends and colleagues, as well as to the Swedish people.
Parliament observed a minute's silence.
Jan Andersson endorsed the President's remarks.

The President welcomed the positive result of, and the high level of participation in, the Latvian referendum on accession to the European Union.
3. Approval of Minutes of previous sitting
The Minutes of the previous sitting were approved.
