The Minutes of the previous sitting were approved.

3.   Statement by the President

On behalf of Parliament, the President paid tribute to the memory of the victims of a plane crash that had occurred in Hungary on 19 January 2006 involving a Slovak military aircraft. He also paid tribute to the memory of the victims of an accident that had occurred in Katowice (Poland) on 28 January 2006, in which the roof of an exhibition hall had collapsed. He pointed out that the Slovak and Polish flags at Parliament were being flown at half-mast as a mark of respect and that he had passed on Parliament's condolences to the Heads of State of Poland and Slovakia.

Parliament observed a minute's silence.

The Austrian authorities had given notice of the appointment of Hubert Pirker to replace Ursula Stenzel as Member of Parliament with effect from 01.02.2006.

7.   Texts of agreements forwarded by the Council

The Council had forwarded a certified true copy of the following:

Agreement between the European Community and the Kingdom of Denmark on jurisdiction and the recognition and enforcement of judgments in civil and commercial matters.

8.   Transfers of appropriations

The Committee on Budgets had considered the Commission's proposal for transfer of appropriations DEC 64/2005 (C6-0439/2005 — SEC(2005)1614 final).

It had authorised the transfer in full under Article 24(2) of the Financial Regulation of 25 June 2002.

9.   Action taken on Parliament's positions and resolutions

The Commission communications on the action taken on the positions and resolutions adopted by Parliament during the October II and November I and II part-sessions in 2005 had been distributed.

10.   Agenda

The order of business had been established (Minutes of 16.01.2006, Item 12) and a corrigendum to the agenda had been distributed (PE 368.209/OJ/COR).

Monica Frassoni, on behalf of the Verts/ALE Group, pointed out that her group had also signed the joint motion for a resolution on the EU's policy towards the Cuban Government (RC-B6-0075/2006).

The agenda was thus established.
