2. Membership of Parliament
The President gave a brief outline of Bulgaria's place among the European nations, and then welcomed the 18 Members elected to the European Parliament in the elections held in Bulgaria on 20.05.2007, whose names had been forwarded to Parliament by the Bulgarian authorities:

Under Rule 3(2), until such time as their credentials had been verified or a ruling had been given on any dispute, and provided that they had previously made a written declaration stating that they did not hold any office incompatible with that of Member of the European Parliament, the above-mentioned Members would take their seats in Parliament and on its bodies and would enjoy all the rights attaching thereto.
3. Statement by the President
The President informed the House that ETA had decided to end the ceasefire announced on 22 March 2006. On behalf of Parliament, he condemned the use of violence and called on all Member States to support Spain in its fight against terrorism.
4. Approval of Minutes of previous sitting
The Minutes of the previous sitting were approved.
5. Agenda
The order of business had been established (Minutes of 24.05.2007, Item 13) and a corrigendum to the agenda had been distributed (PE 389.455/OJ/COR), to which a number of changes had been proposed:

The following spoke: Sophia in 't Veld, who called on the President of Parliament to ask the Mayor of Moscow, Yuri Luzhkov, and President Putin for clarification on the treatment by the Moscow police of the participants in a peaceful demonstration in favour of gay rights held on 27 May 2007, who included MEPs and Members of the Bundestag and of the Italian Parliament (the President replied that he would take action in response to the request).

Claudio Fava had requested that his parliamentary immunity be upheld in the context of civil proceedings in progress before a court in Marsala (Italy).

10. Action taken on Parliament's resolutions
The Commission communication on the action taken on the resolutions adopted by Parliament during the February 2007 part-session had been distributed.

14. Middle East (debate)
Statements by Javier Solana, High Representative for CFSP, and by the Commission, on the Middle East.
The following spoke: Kyriacos Triantaphyllides, who condemned the detention in Israel of Palestinian parliamentarians, including the President of the Legislative Council, and called for them to be released immediately (the President pointed out that he had made such a call in the Knesset the previous week, but that there had to be goodwill on both sides).
(A large number of Members rose in a show of support, and several of them unfurled a banner echoing the call that had been made.)
