Welcome back to the new year and here we are with our first Wednesday hack of 2025 💪 This one touches on editing your XML settings, a frequent ArchiFrame support request and something that some of our users swear by. Once you have gotten your head around it, it can be very efficient and time-saving! Check out this super useful XML hack to get started.... # 4 Surface material and plank ID changes through editing XML settings By editing the XML settings in ArchiFrame you can edit the surface material and have plank IDs show up the floor plan in different ways. This is great for users who have specific processes they need to follow. It's been very rewarding to get feedback and support, and we look forward to sharing more local customer stories with you in 2025! We attended BAU in 2023 and really enjoyed the experience, and we are very excited to be going back. It is truly a massive international event that brings together world leaders from architecture, materials, and systems. "BAU, the World's Leading Trade Fair for Architecture, Materials and Systems, takes place every two years. Everyone involved in the international community for planning, building and designing buildings comes together here—i.e. architects, planners, investors, representatives of the industrial and commercial sectors, the building trades, etc. Their primary interests include the latest techniques, materials and applications that can be put to use in actual practice. This is where visitors experience the future of building in person". Sometimes other people say it best... Talking to people in new markets has been refreshing as they have reflected on the best features and most interesting facets of ArchiFrame . One of the things that has emerged is the importance of CNC capacity. #ThrowbackThursday to our user case study with JVR Rakenne Oy! ArchiFrame has been JVR’s design software of choice. Jaakko Vänttilä explains the process behind choosing ArchiFrame: “We chose ArchiFrame because it is an Archicad extension. We noticed that most architects use Archicad, and we want to minimize remodeling when we move from one design field to another. When an architect designs in Archicad, we put the model directly into use and build based off the same model". Benefits and impact of ArchiFrame in JVR's CLT building: Using a building information model for creating timber high-rise buildings brings many benefits beyond visualization and 3D-modeling, such as property information; for example, designers can create ready-made machining images for the CLT panel factory. Based on the unique building information model, factory staff can program factory machines to correctly cut and tool CLT panels. Best ArchiFrame features: According to Jaakko, the best thing about ArchiFrame is the software’s extensive and versatile editing options: “If you can not do something specific in ArchiFrame automatically, there is always a manual way to do it. You won’t get stuck and you will always find a detour one way or another. Time to share another ArchiFrame hack today, this generous idea comes from Designis! Thanks so much for sharing your knowledge so generously. # 3 Using cladding for visualisation options Cladding is useful for visualisation: use it during the design stage as part of your drafting process in order to bring a building to life. Moreno Vrijma from Designis explains: “Not only do we use it for the renders, but also for creating some design options by offering different kinds of cladding. In the renders below you can see the external timber cladding made by ArchiFrame, and the roof covering is also made by the cladding tool as well as the ceiling. When you change the panel options and you have predetermined presets, once you choose the desired preset parameters, the cladding changes”.
