We will be heading to Slush this week from 20-21 November! As we reach the phase where we spinoff from Aalto University and transition to a #copper #flowbattery manufacturer here in Finland, Slush has always been the go-to place for us to create new connections and partnerships across the deep-tech and innovation-heavy industries 💡 Furthermore we will have a exhibition booth together with Aalto Startup Center on the 2nd day, so if you're at Slush, do drop by and we would be happy to chat with you! 🤝 Who are we? (L-R below) San Vo is an experienced mechanical engineer responsible for developing a production line for our battery manufacture Paul Wong who has been with us since the start of CuRen, is our commercial lead in charge of our go-to-market and fundraising efforts Wouter Dirk Badenhorst is the brains behind our technology, having rapidly developed it from a small-scale experimental setup to a fully-functional prototype in just over a year Sakari Syväniemi is a chemical engineer who has made vast improvements in energy density and efficiency, helping to advance the tech immensely.

Extremely honoured for us to be a winner of the Fortum Spark Innovation Challenge! First we will be at Web Summit Lisbon from 12-14 November with a booth at A421 on 13th (Wednesday) where you can take the chance to network with us and Paul Wong Then we will also be at Slush from 20-21 November with a booth together with Aalto Startup Center on the 21st together with our team of Paul, Wouter, Sakari and San (finally a full team attendance at an event 😃) Through these events, we hope to network with leading investors, energy companies, potential customers, and talented individuals Follow us on Linkedin to join us on our journey, as we prepare to spinoff and achieve our ambitions as a disruptive and innovative battery manufacturer in Finland 🚀

Excited to be in #Lisbon next week for Web Summit - it's mine and CuRen's first time at this event even though I've known of it since 2020! Going to the event will be a chance for us to showcase our #copper #flowbattery and network with industry leaders and funders. This revolutionary long-duration battery storage technology enables vast cost-savings for energy intensive companies, and create revenue through grid market participation. We are looking to deploy our batteries together with flexibility service providers, industrial companies, and eventually renewable energy developers. Kicking off November with a wonderful event hosted by Aalto University Executive Education and Professional Development and the Energy Efficiency Movement. Starting off with the big question of "How might we increase the #collaboration among all the actors for a #decarbonised Finland, it is clear that the challenge ahead of us is steep and ardous, and can only be overcome through strong partnerships and cooperation. We need more of such curated networking sessions where large industrial companies can mingle and identify new startups/SMEs and technologies to work with, either for their direct business or for collaborative projects. This could create knock-on effects in promoting and justifying financial backing that bring about impactful and holistic outcomes for the environment and societies around us. Myself and CuRen look forward to the next event to connect with old and new faces! And hopefully in the next months we can begin our first piloting negotiations of our novel battery technology - through opportunities facilitated by such events.

Attended the launch of Business Finland's Flexible Energy Programme yesterday and it was such a great opportunity to hear from several experts, executives, and government representatives on the future of decarbonised energy systems and markets that are highly distributed, intermittent, and renewables-powered. The highlight of the event was the panel discussion with representatives from LUT, Hytrade, Merus Power and Merinova that covered future trends, challenges, and opportunities of building a flexible energy system. Finnish companies have strong expertise and potential to become European and global leaders in this field, through collaboration across technologies, industries, and bridging the gap between innovative research and commercialisation. Some key lessons for myself: 1. Customers and markets are trending towards flexible energy assets that can participate in varied revenue streams concurrently with minimal capex 2. Systemic-level challenges such as decarbonising the entire energy industry can and should be broken down into smaller problems that are addressable by easy-to-deploy minimum viable solutions. 3. R&D will always play a key role in creating new technologies and enabling business models in flexible energy systems, but R&D must be industry focused and market-centered such that SMEs & startups can develop investable and value-creating solutions. Last but not least, a hearty congratulations to Jussi Åkerberg and his team for the successful launch of FES programme. CuRen and myself look forward to collaborating closely with the programme and Business Finland, to accelerate the energy transition in Finland & Europe through our copper-based BESS technologies. #Finland #energymarkets #renewables #BESS #decarbonisation
