At school and work, technical skills are prioritized — but people skills are often overlooked. Here’s what it means to be a good team player:

Learn about work permits! 3/4 Are you looking for international workers to join your team?  How is the right to work determined on a residence permit application for an employed person (TTOL)?  Here are a few steps in hiring a foreign employee:  1. Find out: The Finnish Immigration Service provides information about foreigners’ rights to work, which residence permit is required for working, and whether a person can work without a residence permit.   2. Contact the Finnish Immigration Service by email (tto@migri.fi) to check an employee’s right to work.  3. Residence permits for employed people are granted in two phases: The TE Office makes a partial decision on the employee's residence permit application. The TE Office’s partial decision is based on an overall assessment of the availability of workers, the employment conditions, and the requirements of the employer and employee. In addition, the partial decision ensures that the employee is capable of earning a livelihood by working. The Finnish Immigration Services makes the final decision on whether to issue a permit.  4. If you have already found an employee, check whether they have the right to work: Ensure that a foreign worker has the required residence permit or right to work without a permit.
