Yet, women-led startups receive less than 5% of early-stage funding globally. 🎓 Maiju Mähönen recently interviewed women about angel investing for her thesis for FiBAN. It is a true honour to have Dr. Ainomaija S. Haarla joining us to share from her extraordinary experience and knowhow as a business leader, board professional and business angel. Dr. Ainomaija Haarla has had an extensive career in the forest and metal industries in Finland and abroad, from new product development and global sales to corporate strategies and M&A. Following her corporate career, Dr. Haarla established a consultancy company. Thereafter Dr. Haarla ran Technology Academy Finland, which awards The Millenium Technology Prize biannually, after which she joined the faculty of Aalto University as Professor of Practice of Corporate Entrepreneurship. Ainomaija Haarla has also served as a faculty member of the World Economic Forum from 2010 to 2015, and was invited to become the godmother of M/T Stena Poseidon in 2006.   Ainomaija Haarla joined FiBAN as a member in 2013 and has worked with twenty-three startups in various roles. She got the Exit of The Year 2016 award for the exit of Gold&Green Foods and was named the Business Angel of the Year 2020. Ainomaija joined Korona Invest, PE investor, as a Board member in 2006, worked there as its Chair eight years and presently as an Adviser. Dr. Haarla has served on the Boards of Directors of large, medium, and small cap companies, listed and unlisted. She now holds two adviser positions and works as a Chair of three organisations, is married and the mother of two, with four grandchildren. Thank you for organizing this powerful panel discussion! The conversation focused on increasing diversity in traditionally male-dominated fields like defense, STEAM, and cybersecurity and highlighted how inclusivity can drive better innovation.
