Did you know that you can make a big difference in reducing the carbon emissions of your flights? We are working hard to drive climate action, but small changes in how you travel can help too. Here’s some expert tips from our Senior Vice President, Sustainability, Eveliina Huurre. 1️⃣ Choose direct flights The most direct route is often the most sustainable! Use tools like Google Flights to compare emissions and select the best option. You can even calculate your emissions and contribute to sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) or certified climate projects when booking your next Finnair flight. 2️⃣ Pre-order your meals Pre-ordering meals helps reduce food waste and the weight of the plane, which lowers fuel consumption. Less weight = less fuel = fewer emissions! 3️⃣ Pack light Packing light can save fuel. Imagine if our every passenger in 2024 packed just 1kg less? It could have saved enough fuel to fly from Helsinki to New York 21 times! 4️⃣ More sustainable travel with longer trips If you can, combine work trips with a bit of leisure and sightseeing to reduce the number of flights. Eveliina even manages to pack for a one-week work trip with only hand luggage!

Let’s hear from you, Taru! ✈️: Who are you and what do you do at Finnair? "I’m Taru Annala, and I work as Customer Insight Manager in the Customer Insight & CX Development team. My main task is to make the customer’s voice available throughout Finnair to support CX development and to help improve our products and services." ✈️: How long have you worked here and what made you apply? "I joined Finnair in May 2015, but I was away for about a year during the pandemic and rejoined in 2022. I applied to Finnair because I’ve been working with commercial research during my whole career, and it was an interesting next step." ✈️: What do you like the most about working at Finnair? "It’s been a pleasure to work with smart and helpful colleagues across Finnair on many interesting projects. I also like the international atmosphere and fast-paced business." ✈️: What’s your favourite Finnair destination and why? "I cannot name any favourite destination because there are so many, but I’ve travelled to Italy quite often." ✈️: Can you tell us something most people don’t know about you? "I have three Master’s degrees, and my dream is to write a doctoral thesis once I find a suitable topic!" ✈️: What tip would you give to someone considering a career in aviation? "If you like international and fast-paced industry, welcome!"

Last week, we announced our Q4 2024 results, which show strong revenue growth, a significant increase in our comparable operating result, and a proposed return of capital of 0.11 euros per share. Key highlights: 🔹 Passenger numbers up 9.1% from the comparison period 🔹 Revenue increase of 7.7% 🔹 Comparable operating result more than doubled 🔹 Proposed return of capital to shareholders after a long time This year, we plan to increase our total capacity by ~10%, focusing on North Atlantic traffic. We are currently finalising a strategy update focusing on our core customers' needs, operational development, and cost competitiveness. Since Valentine’s Day is all about friendship in Finland, we'd like to introduce two Finnair friends, Alena Heiska-Kaliská, a Cabin Crew Member, and Clemens Thiel, Revenue Technology Manager, in the #lifeatfinnair series. Their friendship started at the beginning of the pandemic and has continued ever since. ✈️: How long have you worked here? A: “I've been flying since 2019 (minus the pandemic break and becoming a mum), and this has been my dream job ever since I was a little girl! There was never an ‘if’ for me, it was just a question of ‘when’ and I'm really happy that I got to make my childhood dream come true in such an open-minded and progressive country & company.” C: “I started working at Finnair in February 2018, so 7 years ago. I applied as my previous employer in Germany had gone out of business, and I wanted to move abroad. A former colleague, who had worked for Finnair previously, recommended it to me!” ✈️: What do you like the most about working at Finnair? A: “The different stories people have to tell & how simply you can create a core memory for someone! It's a privilege to be this close to such a huge pot of people, even if it's for just a short while (the flight). I love making napkin airplanes for the little passengers, talking to grandmas about how life used to be so much slower, and challenging even a highly-educated mathematician to solve a puzzle at 3 am when they can't sleep on a long-haul flight.” C: “Echoing what many others have said for #lifeatfinnair, the colleagues are amazing. I feel happy to be working in such a supporting, friendly and professional community of people!” ✈️: What’s your favourite Finnair destination? A: “That's a hard one. A favourite of all time...maybe Bangkok? There is just something special about enjoying authentic mango sticky rice and pampering yourself with a massage after a very long duty on a random Tuesday! Plus, one of the biggest perks of this job is the hotel breakfasts, and the one in Bangkok, with all the local fruits that taste better than candy, is just a treat.” C: “Trips to Madeira and Tromsø have been memorable. My most flown-to destination is Hamburg because that's where I'm from. And, actually, it's a great destination to fly to! Hamburg has a lot to offer beyond Miniatur Wunderland and the harbour. A walk around the Alster lake or a tour through the ‘Altes Land’ area with many orchards and old half-timbered houses, for example.” ✈️: Can you tell us something most people don’t know about you? A: “When I was maybe 10 or 12, I wrote an email with very broken English to one of the airlines asking them what languages I should learn so I'd have a bigger chance to be a flight attendant. I don't think they ever replied, but it goes to say that it has truly been a lifelong dream.” C: “I am from Hamburg because that is where I grew up. But I was, in fact, born in the former GDR (East Germany), a few months before the fall of the Berlin wall.”
