We were delighted to host the KUKKIWON Demonstration Team at Helsinki Airport earlier this month. The action-packed show was a thrilling display of energy and skill - here’s a snapshot of their incredible performance. Our heartfelt thanks to the whole Kukkiwon team! 💙 And if Seoul is on your travel wish list, the World Taekwondo Headquarters deserves a spot on your itinerary: https://lnkd.in/dt26dyRT

Friday is here, marking the day after Thanksgiving and a new #lifeatfinnair post. We’ve got two Thanksgiving-related questions in this special edition—check out our American team member’s answers below! ✈️: Who are you and what do you do at Finnair? "My name is Matthew Bozzetto. I work in the Finance Organization as Head of Business control supporting Operations Unit and Group Function. I am a member of both the Operations and Digital Service Leadership Teams." ✈️: How long have you worked here and what made you apply? "I’ve worked at Finnair since 2018. I was interested in Finnair due to my fondness for the travel industry, and with a long career in hospitality back in the USA I felt it would be a perfect fit…I was right!" ✈️: What do you like the most about working at Finnair? "Well, my fantastic colleagues of course. Finnair is endowed with a team of creative, brilliant, and forward-thinking professionals. It is both a privilege and a pleasure to work with them each day. ID travel is cool too 😉." ✈️: What’s your favourite Finnair destination? "I would say Nice France. Without intention I always find myself going back there. There is always the warm Mediterranean sun, foot massages from the beach rocks 😊, and great food and wine. Access is also excellent from Finland with ample direct flights in the summer, and I particularly like the airport with the runway bordering the sea and offering a very short drive to any of your favorite destinations along the Cote D’Azur." ✈️: Can you tell us something most people don’t know about you? "Since moving to Finland, I’ve really embraced the connection to nature and am an avid forager of mushrooms and I also make my own apple cider-kippis!" ✈️: What tip would you give to someone considering a career in aviation? "Go for it. Aviation connects you to the world with opportunities to meet new people and explore diverse working cultures across the globe. Additionally, and for better or worse, the biggest global events that move the world in geopolitics, economics, and trade are directly consequential to our business and must be considered amongst other things when planning and running the business." 🦃: How do you celebrate Thanksgiving? "Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday, and Finns may not know that it is the most traveled American holiday, even more so than Christmas, where family and friends come home to spend time together and share a great meal. Each year since I moved to Finland, I host a big American style Thanksgiving, and this year will be my 8th annual." 🦃: What’s your favourite Thanksgiving dish? "Lately I have come to enjoy turkey stuffing the most, but maybe my most unique dish that’s come down through my family for a few generations via some 1950s Betty Crocker recipe is a baked sweet pineapple bread casserole that includes canned crushed pineapple, white bread, butter, eggs and sugar – to my surprise and theirs even my Finnish family like this one."

When you book your next flight on our website or through the Finnair app, you have the possibility to make a Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) contribution. SAF is a safe, certified and renewable alternative to fossil jet fuel that we can use today to reduce the negative impact flying has on the climate. Here are six things to know about contributing to SAF: https://lnkd.in/gG7VZGfN

The Finnish Air Line Pilots' Association has announced a strike taking place on 9 and 13 December 2024. The pilot strike will impact Finnair’s capability to operate flights and forces Finnair to cancel a total of approximately 300 flights from the strike days. Finding suitable new flights for thousands of customers takes time, and our customer service will be congested during the weekend, so we ask our customers to be patient. Welcome to the #lifeatfinnair series, in which we introduce our Finnair team members and showcase the versatile and interesting positions and careers we're privileged to have in our company. This week it's our sustainability team's turn. ✈️: Who are you and what do you do at Finnair? "My name is Tuomo Karppinen and I’m working on sustainability. My focus is on heading our environmental activities." ✈️: How long have you worked here and what made you apply? "My first contact with Finnair was back in the 1990s when I did my Master’s Thesis at Finnair. Thanks to those connections, I was asked to join Finnair again in 2004, and have been working here since." ✈️: What do you like the most about working at Finnair? "That’s easy, people. I still remember the first day I started and how kindly I was taken to be part of the team. What has kept me satisfied is the work rotation. This current position is, so to say, my fourth ‘career’. I started with engineering, moved to compliance, then safety, and now I have been working on sustainability for five years." ✈️: What’s your favourite Finnair destination? "There is not one favourite destination for me. I enjoy the connections offered by Finnair and the opportunities to travel east, south and west from Finland. Asia, Europe and America all have their own delights. I love seeing diversity in the world." ✈️: Can you tell us something most people don’t know about you? "I like diverse discussion and philosophical thinking. In everyday work, time often limits us from having good conversations and getting to know each other. I would challenge everyone to read Herman Hesse's Glass Bead Game, at least once in a lifetime. 😊" ✈️: What tip would you give to someone considering a career in aviation? "The aviation industry is highly diverse and offers many career opportunities. Your first job in the industry can be the beginning of a long journey. This industry is rapidly changing and can be addictive."
