Helsinki Data Week

The most asked question we received during this week has been whether there will be #HDW2025. It's a good question that deserves an answer... When we decided to organize Helsinki Data Week for real, the goal was quite simple: to bring the data community together in an accessible way so that anyone could learn and connect. But somewhere along the way, we realized this was becoming something with a momentum of its own. Early on, we made a big decision. The event would be free for attendees, with a goal to just break even in the first year. We covered the essentials, ensured we wouldn’t be at a loss and poured everything into making it a genuinely meaningful experience for everyone who came. What we didn’t expect was the response. The gratitude and energy from people who traveled from all over just to be there. It’s been humbling, to say the least. This experience proved that people are truly craving authentic spaces for real human connection, for sharing stories and knowledge in a community that feels open and genuine. We live in a time where almost everything feels transactional. But we can push back on that. Together, we can keep this momentum going. What I really hope is to see more local grassroots events springing up, creating room for new speakers and voices to grow in our ecosystem. I hope Helsinki Data Week serves as a reminder of what’s possible. It’s shown us that some of the most powerful things happen when people come together. Important information about the Helsinki Data Week Halloween After Party tonight! First of all, we hope you will join us at Apollo Karaoke Bar at 5 pm. First, there will be relaxed hanging out and some closing words. Then at 8 pm, it's time for karaoke! The private party will continue until 11 pm. You can stay at the bar past that, until 4 am if you have the stamina! You can wear a Halloween costume but don't worry about it if you don't. Please note that the entrance is the same for Apollo Live Club and the Karaoke Bar. There will be a different event upstairs, so you need to tell the password "data week" at the coat check to get in. Also, for this one, you need to pay for the coat check yourself. Sad, we know. So, we hope to see you later!
