Bringing the forest into the heart of the city! Nature meets urban life in an inspiring way right in the heart of the city! The mini health forest in Lahti’s city center was a great success and citizens gave a lot of positive feedback for it, for bringing more nature to the city. It sparked one critique: it is a temporary installation. The benefits of greenery are felt, seen, and enjoyed, and this pocket forest quickly became a popular spot for taking a break from the urban bustle. What made this mini health forest unique was its use of native Finnish plants - lingonberries, spruces, and more - bringing the essence of the Finnish forest to the city center. The project was led by InnoGreen, commissioned by the city of Lahden kaupunki / City of Lahti, funded by the GoGreenRoutes project and Horizon 2020. Parkly's modular street furniture, including planters and wayfinding elements, has transformed Lambeth North in Waterloo in London, offering a blend of aesthetics and functionality. "The intuitive wayfinding signage enhances navigation which is tailored to the urban area, and creates a more pedestrian-friendly environment for both residents and visitors." says Alex Butt, Head of Public Realm at WeAreWaterloo Business Improvement District (BID). The project involved creating a visual route and a sense of arrival with a trail of planters, guiding pedestrians from Lambeth North tube station through the surrounding area. The colour was chosen to match We Are Waterloo's visual identity. 🌿 Greening cities one place at a time

Thank you all who visited our stand during Utopian Hours Urbanites Fair! It was a joy to have so many interesting talks about urban design, placemaking and tactical projects in Italy, UK, Slovakia and other countries. We are wiser - and inspired to take the next steps working with many of you for more liveable cities. We'll also soon publish an interview with one of the keynote speakers - stay tuned! Autumn colors are here and the planters have been grouped in another spot on the square for the winter (safe distance from ploughing machines’ routes ✔️) In Lasipalatsi square the flexibility and multifunctionality of the modular system is key for adding greenery and seating on the square.
