The European packaging industry faces a gigantic disruption in the next decade as #PPWR moves forward at the EU level. After much anticipation, the European Parliament has officially approved Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation! For e-commerce, this means 40% of all packaging must be reusable in 2030. The decision arrived in Strasbourg during Tuesday’s plenary and after the adoption by the ENVI committee. There is just one thing. Cardboard boxes are exempt. The most expensive, heaviest, polluting packaging form gets an exemption! That’s lobbying for you. Still, PPWR is a massive opportunity for reusable packaging as 70% of all e-commerce deliveries must be reusable by 2040. A whole new infrastructure is required on the EU level to make this a reality. Luckily we have something to emulate, for example, the Finnish bottle return system which is so convenient for consumers that it gets a 98% return rate. What Next? The final step is the Council’s approval, expected this December, which will pave the way for the text's publication in the EU Official Journal. From there: ◆ Jan-Feb 2025: Regulation enters into force. ◆ Mid-2026: Application begins after an 18-month transition period. #packaging #ecommerce #reuse #circulareconomy

Small Partnerships, Big Impact: RePack x PNY What happens when two sustainability champions join forces? You get possibly the most sustainable delivery system in the world! Together, RePack and PNY are reshaping how e-commerce logistics work. By combining RePack’s reusable and returnable packaging with PNY’s electric cargo motorcycle designed for sustainable and efficient deliveries, we’re setting new standards for green and waste-free logistics. Here’s why we’re so excited: PNY is revolutionizing mobility with powerful electric vehicles designed to replace traditional vans, making logistics both eco-friendly and highly efficient. RePack is eliminating packaging waste with solutions that are reusable, returnable, and as easy to love as they are good for the planet. Together, we’re proving that change can start small — one package, one delivery at a time — but the ripple effects can transform entire industries. Could there be a better match? Let’s drive change, inspire action, and set a new benchmark for sustainable deliveries. What other industries do you think require shared visions like this? Almost 10 years ago we designed a reusable delivery packaging that was foldable to letter size and adjustable to size. It was pioneering stuff and we were so proud. The original RePack design proved popular with early adopting customers and award juries, but it was even more so with emerging innovators and competitors, many of whom unashamedly copied our design! We were poor and naive back then, and failed to protect our IP, of which we have been reminded by numerous potential investors. Working with e-commerce giants such as Zalando, Inditex, Otto Group, Amazon and H&M, we learned that reusable packages struggle with packing time and sealing, directly impacting productivity and user experience. This is a major factor preventing reuse from going to scale. The New RePack design is still reusable, (duh!), but more importantly, it's fast to pack and tamper-proof. We believe it's the solution to high-volume productivity issues. Our next-generation packaging comes in two different materials, one from recycled polypropylene for added durability and renewable materials for those companies with no plastic policy. How good is it? So good! You just need to see how good it makes RePack Co-Founder & Designer Juha Mäkelä feel. Want to get a sneak peek at our new designs? We're at ALL4PACK Emballage Paris in Paris from 4-7 November, Location 5 ST 022

RePack entered Paris Fashion Week in 2018, and up until last week, we were the only packaging and logistics player there, when Gigi Hadid wore DHL eCommerce packing tape dress in the name of upcycling. They do look great together, however only one has served in delivering goods to its customers 😉 👍 for RePack 👏 for DHL #circulareconomy #reusablepackaging #reuse #circularlogistics #logistics #packaging

🔴 Fashion items are one of the most returned categories in e-commerce. In fact, 1 in 2 returns cannot be resold and end up in landfills. With the sector expected to ship up to 200 billion parcels by 2025, how can we not be concerned about the need to reduce waste in e-commerce? In the UK alone, 750,000 tonnes of CO2 have been emitted due to online fashion returns. Reusable packaging solutions reduce up to 80% CO2 emissions compared to single-use packaging and eliminates waste. Still need more reasons to join the circular revolution? Let’s go yellow with Repack #RePack #DeliveryRevolution #JoinCircularity #ECommerce #ZeroWaste #GoYellow

Did you know that packaging plays a huge role in environmental impact? In the EU, 40% of plastics and 50% of paper are used just for packaging, mostly for single-use. This drives the growing demand for virgin materials. By choosing reusable packaging, we can reduce this impact. If we must produce packaging, let’s make sure it’s used for as long as possible, instead of tossing it after just one use. 💚♻️ #RePack #DeliveryRevolution #JoinCircularity #WorldEnviromentalHealthDay #ZeroWaste #GoYellow
