Itä-Suomen yliopiston Joensuun kampuksella ja verkossa järjestetään 31.10.–1.11.2024 kansainvälinen kestävän resurssiyhteiskunnan konferenssi, International Conference for Sustainable Resource Society (ICS24). Tämän vuoden erityisteemana on ympäristön monitorointi ja vaikutusten arviointi. Konferenssin järjestävät yhteistyössä viisi Itä-Suomen yliopiston eri aiheisiin painottuvaa tutkimusyhteisöä; RESOURCE, FOBI, WATER, CLEHE ja PHOTONICS. Tapahtuma kokoaa yhteen monitieteisen tutkijajoukon käsittelemään kestävyyssiirtymän yhteiskunnallisia haasteita, ympäristönmuutosta ja luonnonvarojen kestävää käyttöä. Kaksipäiväiseen tapahtumaan osallistuu 200 tutkijaa Suomesta ja ulkomailta. On ollut hienoa olla järjestämässä tätä konferenssia! Nähdään torstaina ja perjantaina! Join us every Wednesday morning to hear a short presentation on themes related to sustainability and the circular economy. These presentations are followed by a discussion in a friendly atmosphere. The next session is on October 30 and our guest is Diana Carolina Arbeláez Ruiz (UEF). Arbelaez-Ruiz will focus her talk on "Mineral demand for urban mobility electrification has social, environmental and geopolitical effects. Why is this important for urban actors?" We are very pleased to announce that a noted expert in foresight, Eeva Hellström, will be giving a keynote speech ”What if tomorrow’s resource economy were regenerative” in ICS24! Eeva Hellström is a Senior Lead in Foresight at the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, an independent, future-oriented public think-and-do tank. At Sitra, Eeva focuses particularly on foresight activities related to the economy of tomorrow. Her work aims to identify potential development trends and transformative opportunities that can contribute to a genuinely fair, sustainable, and competitive economy. A key goal is to challenge prevailing assumptions about the future of the economy and to initiate constructive, multisectoral, and multidisciplinary discourse on the topic. Currently, she has a special interest in regenerative economics.
