Watching the wide-eyed wonder on the faces of our young visitors as they learned how plants can thrive under lights, even without natural sunlight, was an unforgettable experience. Their concentration, endless questions, and sheer excitement reminded us why we do what we do. Every day at Greenlux, we work to ensure that plants flourish and food production remains consistent, no matter the challenges of natural sunlight or climate. Showing our kids the difference their parents make in the world was not just heartwarming but inspiring. What are the best ways to learn? Of course it depends on a person, people learn in different ways. Those cucumber plants are our study material for two modules: Growth factors for Finnish and English speaking, first-year students. My colleague has prepared different treatments for the plants: for example too high EC, too much or too little irrigation amounts and different light treatments. Then the students will be following, how the treatments will affect to the plants. Now all the plants are under Valoya (Greenlux Lighting Solutions) LEDs, but soon part of the plants will be moved to the HPS side. This year we have Sigrow sensors, which we borrowed from Kekkilä-BVB so we can monitor the EC and WC in the substrate and learn about sensors.
