I am always keen to know their rig lift plans and how competent the chopper crew is, what plan they have for bad weather and managment plan. Also, their security management plan for the crew, in case there are ransome seekers near by or active war zones or tribal fights or gangs operating in the area.

Safety should be at the cornerstone of all field operations. Some main points to highlight: - Clearly outline your Site Health and Safety Plan (HASP). All field personnel and subcontractors should sign this. Make sure proper PPE and all site work are outlined in your HASP. Highlight these protocols in your proposal. -Highlight means of completing the work. How the site will be put back to current condition after work is completed? How underground utilities will be cleared prior to any excavation, boring, or subsurface work being completed. -Finally, make sure that you have a strong sense of safety in your proposal. Provide safety plan, credentials, training etc. if asked. When in doubt always hop on a call to discuss with Client.

Safety is paramount in mining, construction and oil or gas industry. A preshift safety discussion on associated hazards with respect to the day’s work is done . This is to bring to bear possible risks of the job and the controls put in place to arrest these risks. Though you responsible for your own safety on the job, you should also look out for your colleagues. A responsibility for all employees to correct, direct and monitor what each team member does. That’s the “UNBUNTU” principle at work. Employers must provide appropriate PPE to limit or protect workers from the risks cannot be eliminated by the controls in place.

Safety generally has a global perspective, however, safety in détail is site specific so it's important you understand the area where the work is to be carried out. Secondly geology activities also differ and so you also need to understand the détail and stage of the project e.g. HASP for mapping can't be the same when running a drilling program. Once these are well understood then a job hazard analysis is done for all associated activities written down. This is followed by induction for all employees and sub contractors involved. Incident report and Action plan systematics can then be elaborated alongside examples of incidents or acidents which have happened and how you successfully treated the cases.

Safety shoul be highly prioritised in the field as no work is worth fatality or injuries. It is important that a full risk assessment is done/completed to inform the job to be done. A complete SLAM (Stop,Look,Assess and manage) is necessary during any operation or field to prevent and address any safety risks.
