The One Planet network implements the 10 Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production (10YFP).
À propos
It is a global framework of action to enhance international cooperation to accelerate the shift towards SCP in both developed and developing countries. The framework supports capacity building, and facilitates access to technical and financial assistance for developing countries for this shift. The 10YFP aims at developing, replicating and scaling up SCP and resource efficiency initiatives, at national and regional levels, decoupling environmental degradation and resource use from economic growth, and thus increasing the net contribution of economic activities to poverty eradication and social development. The framework is meant to encourage innovation and cooperation among all stakeholders. Interested actors from all countries can be involved in the implementation of the 10YFP activities: government, private sector, civil society, researchers, UN agencies, financial institutions, and other major groups. 10YFP Objectives: - Accelerate the shift towards SCP, supporting regional and national policies and initiatives. - Contributing to resource efficiency and decoupling economic growth from environmental degradation and resource use, while creating decent jobs and economic opportunities and contributing to poverty eradication and shared prosperity. - Mainstream SCP into sustainable development policies, programmes and strategies, as appropriate, including into poverty reduction strategies. - Support capacity building and facilitate access to financial and technical assistance for developing countries, supporting the implementation of SCP activities at the regional, sub-regional and national levels. - Enable all stakeholders to share information and knowledge on SCP tools, initiatives and best practices, raising awareness and enhancing cooperation and development of new partnerships – including public-private partnerships.

In 2016, Finland became the first country to adopt a national circular economy roadmap, led by the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra. ♻️ This policy framework has accelerated a systemic shift from the traditional 'make-take-waste' model to one that maximizes resource efficiency and minimizes environmental impact, aligning with global sustainability objectives, including #SDG12. ✅ Over 90% of Finnish citizens recognize sustainability as essential for long-term prosperity. ✅ 78% of Fins believe Finland should transition to a circular economy even if other countries do not do so. ✅ Finland leads globally in circular economy education, offering many dedicated higher education programs. Finland's approach serves as a model for governments seeking to accelerate their transition towards circularity, and we at the One Planet network - 10YFP are proud to work with Finland to further advance circular economy transitions globally. 🔗 Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/ezwn6NDQ

The electronics industry plays a critical role in the global sustainability transition. 🔌 🌏 As demand continues to rise, transparency and accountability in production and consumption are essential. A new report from the One Planet network - 10YFP Consumer Information Programme explores the potential of ecolabels in advancing sustainability across the sector. Key findings highlight how ecolabels can: ✔ Enhance resource efficiency and circularity ✔ Provide credible and transparent sustainability claims ✔ Influence sustainable procurement and market transformation Through the Eco-Advance Project: 'Ecolabels and Sustainable Public Procurement', a project jointly implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH, the UN Environment Programme (UNEP), and Öko-Service-Institut Ulf Buchsbaum, with financial support from the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Nuclear Safety and Consumer Protection and through the International Climate Initiative (IKI), we are working to strengthen consumer information tools—such as ecolabels—to drive sustainability in electronics. 📘 Read the full report: https://lnkd.in/exyRWQHk

The ICT sector is a cornerstone of the modern economy, yet it faces significant sustainability challenges—including resource depletion, electronic waste, and concerns over labor rights. 💡 Public procurement - as a major driver of ICT demand - holds the potential to accelerate the transition toward circular and fair supply chains. However, achieving systemic change requires coordinated action. The Circular & Fair ICT (CFIT) Pact (CFIT), comprised of governments, public authorities and supporter organizations, provides a structured approach to align procurement efforts for greater impact. As part of the UN One Planet network - 10YFP’s Sustainable Public Procurement Programme, CFIT enables governments and public institutions to: ✅ Integrate Circularity ✅ Social responsibility ✅ Sustainability criteria into ICT procurement decisions—directly supporting #SDG12: Sustainable Consumption and Production. ➡️ Learn more about the Pact and how you can get involved: https://lnkd.in/gm32Js9

Ecolabels are powerful tools to foster Sustainable Consumption and Production, especially in high-impact sectors. To enhance their adoption by the private sector and their use by governments in sustainable public procurement, the EcoAdvance project is supporting four Asian ecolabel schemes – Thailand Green Label, Ecolabel Sri Lanka, Green Choice Philippine, and Green Mark Uzbekistan – in an initiative to promote the harmonization and mutual recognition of criteria for two of the most used construction materials: cement and steel. Harmonizing ecolabel criteria is a strategy to facilitate sustainable trade between countries, raising the interest of companies to seek ecolabels for their products.
