Today, we are excited to announce that our colleagues Violaine Fauvarque and Sandrine Michalot are both trained facilitators of the #ClimateFresk, and will be rolling out internal training sessions for our company. 🌳 Do you know what the Climate Fresk is? It is a group learning experience, a collaborative workshop that teaches the fundamental science behind climate change and empowers people to take action. [𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐚 𝐠𝐮𝐦 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠] 🎬 The 4th episode in our series on the role of acacia gum in the Sahel region has landed! With fresh insights into acacia gum harvesting. https://lnkd.in/e7feBsV6 🌳99% of acacia gum is harvested from wild trees in the Sahel. Harvesting follows the seasons: it begins at the end of the rainy season, extending from December to April or even as late as June. During this period, the acacia tree produces gum. This is an entirely natural process. The bark is sometimes lightly incised – known as tapping – to trigger exudation. The gum oozes out to cover the incision and a nodule gradually forms, which harvesters can then collect. ♻️Harvesting is carried out by local people. It can’t be mechanised: each picker carefully collects the gum by hand, respecting the tree and surrounding nature. The process integrates perfectly into the tree's life cycle. Just as cultivating this natural exudate forms an integral part of the local social, economic and environmental ecosystem. According to founder Paul Mathew, “Acacia gum is an ingredient that changes everything, giving a delicate, silky texture to every sip. It also plays an important role in binding, while lengthening the expression of different aromas on the palate, giving them more time to unfold.” 🍹 Paul Mathew wanted to make delicious, nuanced alcohol-free drinks. Drawing on his expertise in botanicals and spirits, he created three different drinks that use acacia gum to add texture and bind without distorting the flavours. 🤝 Why did he choose Alland & Robert? “I always select ingredients very carefully.
