ANIMA Investment Network was honored to participate to the World Investment Conference (WIC), hosted by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saudi Investment Promotion Authority الهيئة السعودية لتسويق الاستثمار and the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA). On the 26th EMMANUEL NOUTARY the General Delegate of ANIMA chaired and moderated a workshop to discuss how regional cooperation between investment promotion agencies could foster economic integration. ANIMA had invited high level representatives from members of their network Hossam Heiba CEO of General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Egypt; Marios Tannousis CEO of Invest Cyprus - CIPA and krystel khalil Director of programs at Berytech to present the case study of the Mediterranean region, which was then put in perspective with the experience of the Caribbean region with Ronald Theodore the President of Caribbean Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (CAIPA) and R. Yofi Grant the CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre in Ghana. The debate was then enlarged to the many participating investment promotion agencies and a number of propositions emerged to inspire the services of regional IPA networks. On the 27th EMMANUEL NOUTARY chaired another session on the topic of “Bridging Borders: Facilitating Global Corporate Partnerships and Investments”. The panel discussed two major issues at stake for investment promotion organisations: how to lift barriers faced by companies and investors looking to work and invest in their country, and how at the same time, maximise the spillovers of the investment projects in terms of value created and the impact. The discussion was addressed from several points of view: the case of Switzerland with Ambassador Andrea Rauber Saxer - Head of the Bilateral Economic Relations Divisions, State Secretariat for Economic Affairs – Switzerland, Mr. Escipion Joaquin Oliveira Gomez, Director, Divisions of Enterprise Competitiveness and Institutions, ITC (International Trade Center ITC), Mr. Davide Cichero, Chief of Staff, ICC (International Chamber of Commerce). The panel concluded that public private dialogue is essential to facilitate project implementation and growth. A meeting was also organised between board members of ANIMA Investment Network Business France Salim Saïfi, General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI) Hossam Heiba, Invest Cyprus - CIPA, EMMANUEL NOUTARY and His Excellency Ibrahim Youssef Almubarak, Assistant Minister of Investment and CEO, INVEST SAUDI, to discuss the future collaboration of the network with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
