Days thought 🙃
A very interesting article of the Guardian on this trend of craft breweries being puchased by international groups. I think what makes a craft brewery so special is the story behind it. How it began, how it developed, how it works, how it takes care of its beers, the people behind it and its relationships with its customers and suppliers. We, at the Brasserie Pilat and EDMOND BIERES have been working for more than 20 years with most of our suppliers and customers. This stability and our commitment to quality makes that we offer one of the best value for money organic craft beers. Long term vision and a certain state of mind is the key to this. It is hard when you grow to resist using brewing aids, additives or buying raw metarials a bit cheaper but of poorer taste quality because with growing volumes the impact can be very important on the bottom line. But quality is what our customers look for. And being independent means we choose how and who we work with and I should say partner with! Customers often ask me what is a craft brewery. I tell them it is not only a matter of size but of state of mind. For me when you are not independent and / or start using unnecessary elements that can decrease quality but surely improve profitability or choose price over quality for your hops, malts, … you are not really a craft brewery anymore. #independentbreweries #craftbeers #organicbeers #alcoholfreebeers
