🌍 Where Expertise and Innovation Meet European Sustainability Goals for Competitive Fisheries Recently, members of the European Parliament reached out to our CLS teams to share our know-how in satellite technology and artificial intelligence. We are proud to see our expertise recognized at the highest European level! Anna Conchon, Head of Fisheries Expertise Team and Maxime Lalire, Fisheries Research Engineer were invited to give a presentation on the future of sustainable fisheries. 🐟 Our solutions are crucial in improving fishing selectivity, reducing bycatch, and optimizing fishing practices, all while protecting marine ecosystems. 🌊 This recognition is a testament to the collective efforts of our teams, who continuously innovate to support both sustainability and competitiveness in the fisheries sector. This requirement, introduced by the 2022 legislation, aims to enhance sustainable fisheries management and protect the marine environment. 🌎 Accurate land mapping is essential in tackling soil sealing—a growing challenge impacting biodiversity, climate resilience, and sustainable land use. 🌱 CLS is proud to have contributed to European Space Agency - ESA’s ULYSSES project, supporting precise land mapping across the Mediterranean. 💡 Why is this important? France’s Zero Net Land Take (ZNLT) goal and the EU’s Soil Monitoring Law aim to curb artificialization and protect and restore natural areas. Yet, high-resolution data is needed to measure and manage soil sealing effectively. 🌍Semaines de mobilisation et d’engagement chez CLS !    La semaine dernière, notre Directrice juridique et compliance, Iva Colom Toro, représentait CLS lors du 2ᵉ rassemblement des Sociétés à Mission organisé à Toulouse dans les locaux d'Inddigo. Un moment fort de partage et d’inspiration, où dirigeants engagés, experts et collaborateurs se sont réunis pour enrichir leur vision d'un impact durable et positif. Merci encore à tous les intervenants et animateurs d'ateliers qui ont fait de cet événement un succès.   🤝 Mais ce n’est pas tout ! L'engagement de CLS a aussi pris une dimension solidaire, grâce à une belle opération de collecte de dons au profit de 3 associations. 🌊 Indonesia Leads the Way: Mandatory VMS for Sustainable Fisheries Management As the demand for sustainable seafood grows, ensuring the responsible management of marine resources is no longer an option—it is a necessity. In a decisive move, Indonesia's Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries has made the Vessel Monitoring System (#VMS) mandatory for fishing vessels sailing beyond 12 nm, reinforcing its commitment to combating Illegal, Unreported, and Unregulated Fishing (#IUUF) and strengthening fisheries governance. 🔹 A Strategic Approach to Fisheries Control Aligned with the Code of Conduct for Responsible Fisheries (CCRF), the implementation of Monitoring, Control, and Surveillance (MCS)—with VMS as a cornerstone—ensures real-time tracking of fishing activities, enabling regulatory authorities to monitor compliance and enforce sustainable practices. 🔹 Beyond Compliance: Strengthening Maritime Security & Trade This initiative goes beyond fisheries management. By providing real-time satellite-based data, VMS enhances maritime security, enabling early detection of incidents such as vessel distress, piracy, and unauthorized activities. 🔹 Progressive Implementation for Long-Term Impact Recognizing the complexity of transition, Indonesia has established a phased approach: ✅ All fishing vessels operating beyond 12 nautical miles must install VMS by December 31, 2025. ✅ Vessels that already migrated in 2024 before the policy transition must comply as of January 1, 2025. 🔹 A Call for Global Action 🌍 Indonesia’s proactive stance serves as a model for nations seeking to strengthen fisheries governance, combat IUUF, and align with international sustainability commitments. Now is the time for governments and institutions worldwide to act—integrating technology-driven solutions for more resilient and responsible fisheries. ⚓ NEMO: The Smart Choice for Sustainable Fisheries To meet these challenges, we, at PT.
