Yesterday, we co-hosted the first Anthropic Builder Summit with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei. The event brought together CTOs, CEOs and builders from AI-forward companies from the EU and the US to discuss the future of AI. Key moments included a fireside chat with Dario exploring the balance between innovation and safety in AI development, and a panel on building world-class AI product featuring Thomas Wolf (Hugging Face), Matt Rouif (Photoroom), and Stanislas Polu (Dust). One key moment was Dario's perspective on reasoning capabilities 🧠: "We’re generally focused on trying to make our own take on reasoning models that are better differentiated. We worry about making sure we have enough capacity, that the models get smarter, and we worry about safety things" Our panel discussion with Hugging Face and Photoroom highlighted how AI is reshaping product development. As companies building AI platforms and products, we find ourselves in a constant dialogue between user needs and technology capabilities. The traditional separation between product and engineering is blurring - we're exploring new territory where technical possibilities and user requirements evolve in lockstep . The AI landscape was shaken last week with the emergence of DeepSeek AI, particularly their R1 model. This development is especially significant, not just as another model release, but as an interesting shift in how models approach complex reasoning tasks. "Instead of relying solely on pattern matching or immediate responses, these models can generate extensive reasoning chains, exploring different approaches and validating their thinking before producing a final answer." Stanislas Polu expects these capabilities to enable new use cases by increasing the level of abstraction in the tasks models can tackle with the right company context. However, implementing support for DeepSeek-R1 raises key questions around data security.
