European Federation of Multiwall Paper Sack Manufacturers. The Federation represents over 75% of European paper sack manufacturers. Its members operate in over 20 different countries. They produce more than 5 billion paper sacks per year, representing 650,000 tonnes of paper converted in 60 plants. Sack and bag manufacturers from all continents contribute to the federation as corresponding members, with suppliers (paper, film, machine, or adhesives manufacturers) being registered as associate members. The Federation conducts research studies and communicates on the advantages of paper sacks. It is in charge of lobbying activities and further provides a forum for its members to define common positions and a place of exchange for skills and knowledge.

Are you prepared for the game-changing impact of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) and the ambitious targets of the Packaging and Packaging Waste #Regulation (PPWR)? 🌍 Find out what these changes mean for you and how they could shape your path to #sustainability. 🍃 In our latest webinar, Laura Mazzei from CITPA shared valuable insights. She discussed the PPWR, which sets ambitious goals such as recyclability of all #packaging by 2030 and recycling of packaging at a scale by 2035. Laura emphasized that EPR schemes hold producers accountable throughout the lifecycle of their packaging, fostering responsibility and #environmental awareness. Have you ever seen the circular economy in action? See the power of joining forces and discover how the construction industry embraces circularity to cut down on waste! 🌟 Carlos Martinez Ezquerra from Mondi Group presented a groundbreaking initiative: the Paper Sacks Go Circular Spain project. In just six months, this project recycled 600+ tonnes of paper sacks across 170 construction sites, demonstrating the power of collaboration to tackle construction waste. Carlos outlines how the project engages stakeholders throughout the value chain, from construction sites to waste collectors and recyclers. By developing a scalable model for circularity and collaborating with various construction #waste materials, the collection of paper sacks can be expanded in both a #sustainable and cost-effective manner. With plans to expand to the rest of the European countries, this initiative is proof that challenges can become opportunities through innovation and #collaboration. ♻️ Ever wondered how industrial paper sack recycling has proven successful in Germany? Discover the full story of REPASACK, told briefly. Sven Korsten from Interzero Repasack shared an inspiring look at Germany’s REPASACK system, which was founded under similar legal conditions as we have today with the PPWR. The system for take-back and recycling of used paper sacks uses collection points or a pick-up service to retrieve the used sacks. After a mechanical cleaning process, they are turned into high-quality raw materials for reuse. As a result, 7,050 tonnes of greenhouse gases could be saved in 2023. The REPASACK system demonstrates how innovative processes like collection, sorting, and high-quality fiber recovery can close the loop on waste. Sven highlighted the critical role of collaboration and transparency across the supply chain to replicate this success across Europe.
