This week is International Fraud Awareness Week, promoting anti-fraud awareness and education to minimise the impact and mitigate the risks of fraud. Phishing is one of the most common types of cyber-fraud, and can take different forms: 🐟 Email phishing, the most common type of phishing, where attackers send fraudulent emails that appear to be from a legitimate source, such as a bank or popular website. 🐟 Spear phishing, where the email will be personalised to make it look like it’s specifically intended for the recipient, often including information like the recipient’s name, job title, or other details. 🐟 Whaling, which is a highly targeted form of phishing aimed specifically at high-ranking executives or "big fish" in an organisation. 🐟 Vishing, which involves phone calls, where attackers impersonate legitimate organisations or family/friends to extract sensitive information from the victim. 🐟 Smishing, which uses text messages to try to trick the recipient into giving away personal information or clicking on malicious links.
