Founded in 1904, with headquarters in Paris, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) is a non-profit making association. It brings together over than 237 national motoring and sporting organisations from 142 countries on five continents. Its member clubs represent millions of motorists and their families. One of the core responsibilities of the FIA is the development of motor sport worldwide. Through its national member clubs the FIA is involved in every level of motor sport and its remit extends to the millions of amateurs and professionals who enjoy motor sport in all of its variety. The FIA has been dedicated to representing the rights of motoring organisations and motor car users throughout the world via campaigns and activities that defend their interests. On issues such as safety, mobility, the environment and consumer law the FIA actively promotes the interests of motorists at the United Nations, within the European Union and through other international bodies. The FIA is also the governing body for motor sport worldwide. It administers the rules and regulations for all international four-wheel motor sport including the FIA Formula One World Championship, FIA World Rally Championship, FIA World Endurance Championship, FIA World Touring Car Championship and FIA World Rallycross Championship.

Today, on World Sustainable Transport Day, the FIA was proud to participate in the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs's UN Decade of Sustainable Transport Multi-Stakeholder Webinar, aligning with global leaders to shape a sustainable, inclusive, and resilient transport future. FIA President Mohammed Ben Sulayem emphasised the significance of this collaboration, stating: "Sustainable transport is at the heart of the global effort to combat climate change and foster social inclusivity. The FIA remains committed to working with the UN and other stakeholders to ensure that transport solutions drive us toward a greener, safer, and more accessible future for all." FIA Chief Development Officer Habib T. has been actively strengthening the FIA’s relationship with China, acknowledging its key role in the global mobility landscape. Over the past two months, Habib spoke at the World Intelligent Connected Vehicle (WICV) summit in Beijing, and the China Automobile Standards Internationalization Center (Geneva) internationalisation Centre Forum in Geneva, where he showcased the FIA’s vision for a safe, sustainable, inclusive mobility transition. The events also gave him the opportunity to meet with industry leaders, discuss the future of ICVs, and highlight the need for unified legal frameworks and global standards to drive mobility innovation and sustainability forward.
