GPT-4: 54% on the Turing Test! Turing predicted that by the end of the century, AI systems would imitate humans so well that an average interrogator would only distinguish between human and machine 30% of the time in just 5 minutes. The Eliza system, created in the 60s, didn't attend the test. But today, in the study "People cannot distinguish GPT-4 from a human in a Turing test," it attempts to pass the test alongside GPT-3.5 and GPT-4. 500 participants were recruited and divided into 5 distinct groups. Interrogators used social and emotional strategies, asking about opinions, experiences, humor, as well as knowledge and reasoning questions. Did they succeed in distinguishing humans from machines? Eliza ranked third with only 22% of participants thinking it was a human. It was followed by GPT-3.5, which scored 50%. GPT-4 is the winner with 54% of respondents being fooled. The way AI communicates with humans (style and emotional aspects) plays an essential role in the perception of its humanity. Of course, this has sparked debates on the dangers of AI perceived as human in cases of identity theft, manipulation, and more. The new alpha web version has been officially available since December 2023, for users who have generated more than 1,000 images on Discord. Midjourney aims for mass adoption of its platform, but this requirement may limit access even further. Today, it is accessible to paying users who have generated more than 100 images on Discord. The conditions may still seem high. No worries! The path to Midjourney alpha web access for all is underway. With this new interface, you no longer need to manually configure settings in a Discord channel. It's now possible to easily generate images as you wish. Although Midjourney had 8.3 million members on its Discord server in 2023, it lagged behind other competitors such as @Dall-E due to its lack of simplicity. At Hadretna, we believe in the importance of learning in the mother tongue of speakers. This will help facilitate the digital inclusion of all North African speakers. 🔧 What’s in progress? To achieve this goal, Hadretna’s team is building the largest body of text in Darija, which we define as all languages spoken in North Africa. This text corpus will be used to build a Large Language Model (LLM). 🌐 Find out more about our work and take part in the project!
