EPD International AB has officially published the new c-PCR (Product Category Rule) for #abrasive products, marking a milestone in #sustainability. This comprehensive guideline aligns with international standards and provides a transparent, consistent, and verifiable framework for evaluating the environmental impacts of abrasive products throughout their life cycle. The #European abrasive industry, supported by FEPA, has been at the forefront of the green transition. The publication of this c-PCR is a testament to this leadership. FEPA's #sustainability journey started concretely with the launch of the SEAM program to the market in 2020. The program gathers a group of committed #abrasives manufacturers and their supply chain to work on improving their production processes to become more sustainable. In 2022, the abrasives industry understood that as a whole they needed to empower themself by getting knowledgeable about the requirements of sustainability and by equipping manufacturers with a process to evaluate their product #carbon #footprint. While it can be done at company-level, how do you avoid green washing? How do you know that you are using the right emissions factors? How do you ensure that your competitor is doing it the same way than you? By setting up the rules of engagement at association-level, you are establishing a standard to practice sustainability. Thank you to Joshua Morshead from Sphera to have spent time with FEPA members last week helping the industry understand how to use these rules to set up an industry tool in order to conduct Life-Cycle Analysis (#LCA) and ultimately publish Environmental Product Declarations (#EPDs). #2024FEPAEvents, Julia Goerke, Tommaso Travaglini
