This year, the world celebrated World Wetlands Day on Sunday, 2 February 2025, under the theme Protecting Wetlands for Our Common Future. In line with this theme, EnviroServ partnered with various non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to raise awareness about the importance of water cleanliness and conservation. Empowering Youth Through Mock Interviews: A Success Story In October 2024, the French South African Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FSACCI), in partnership with the Sizanani Mentorship Programme, hosted a Mock Interview Workshop for 20 young individuals from Alexandra township, Johannesburg. This initiative was sponsored by Bombela Operating Company via the RATP Dev  Group Foundation. It aimed to equip these future professionals with essential interview skills, boosting their confidence and employability in an increasingly competitive job market. One such success story is Ntombenhle Nkosi, a BTech Chemical Engineering graduate from the University of Johannesburg. She participated in the session and was interviewed by Tshepang Mkhwebane, an HR professional from Veolia. Recognizing Ntombenhle’s potential, Tshepang not only provided valuable feedback but also informed her about an open position for an Order Processing Administrator at Veolia. Armed with her newly sharpened interview skills, Ntombenhle successfully secured the job—an inspiring testament to the impact of the programme. Wesgro strengthens economic ties with the European Union 13 February 2025, Cape Town: The annual European Union (EU) Trade and Investment Breakfast, hosted by Wesgro in partnership with 10 bilateral EU Chambers of Commerce and Industry, highlighted the importance of deepening economic collaboration between the Western Cape and the EU. Held on Tuesday at the Nasdaq venue in the Media24 building in Cape Town, the event focused on emerging opportunities like green hydrogen and battery manufacturing, while also addressing the importance of creating an enabling environment for increased trade, with a focus on improving port performance. Over 100 business leaders, trade commissioners, and diplomats gathered to discuss how building stronger partnerships—particularly with the private sector—can drive economic growth, create jobs, and navigate the rapidly changing global trade landscape.
