Global Collaboration, Enhanced Food Safety The development of GFSI’s Benchmarking Requirements (BMRs) version 2024 is a collective journey that involved extensive consultation and collaboration with a broad array of stakeholders including retail, manufacturing and food service companies, certification bodies and GFSI-recognised CPOs, international organisations, accreditation bodies, governments and academia. This breadth of expertise means that GFSI’s Benchmarking Requirements are the world’s most widely accepted benchmark for food safety certification programmes. What's new? The v2024 revised requirements: ➡️ Align with the latest international standards, ensuring consistency with science-based food safety best practices. ➡️ Foster a strong food safety culture within organisations. ➡️ Build upon lessons learned from food industry stakeholders. ➡️ Streamline the benchmarking process. ➡️ Further detail the process for multi-site operations. GFSI-recognised Certification Programmes enable organisations to enhance their food safety management systems and protect consumer health. Who is this for? ✅ Food safety professionals, ✅ Certification Programme Owners, ✅ Certification and Accreditation Bodies, ✅ Food manufacturers and retailers. What's next? 📆 Starting January 6, 2025, Certification Programme Owners can begin the process of seeking recognition against the new BMRs v2024. 🔹 For those seeking recognition for the first time, which GFSI actively encourages, they may apply at any time. 🔹 Programmes currently recognised under the 2020.1 version have a 9-month window to apply to be recognised against the new requirements. In July 2024, GFSI invited all stakeholders to support its journey of continuous improvement by providing feedback to an open consultation on Version 2024 of the GFSI Benchmarking Requirements. The new version, developed by the Benchmarking and Harmonisation Working Group, co-chaired by Andrew Clarke from #Loblaw and Leda Touliatou from #Nestlé, will integrate updates from Codex and ISO as well as provide more clarity for recognised standards and eliminate redundancy. Over 2500 comments were submitted and reviewed, representing the length and breadth of the GFSI stakeholder community. The Consultation response linked below is a testament to the commitment of the GFSI ecosystem to supporting the work of GFSI in ensuring that the BMRs remain relevant, robust, and aligned with industry needs: https://lnkd.in/dgDWkBeV #FoodSafety - #GFSI - #Consultation - #GFSIBMRsv2024 - #Benchmarking #ContinuousImprovement
