🌏Green Marine Europe's project pilot to include ports: Insights from Jean-Frédéric LAURENT, Managing Director of the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux. 📽️Discover our #interview with Jean-Frédéric LAURENT. He shares the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux’s journey as part of the pilot project to extend Green Marine Europe certification to commercial ports 👇. 🔑Why ports matter : Ports are essential hubs in the supply chain. Their sustainability efforts—such as providing greener energy sources and improving waste management—play a pivotal role in reducing the maritime industry’s environmental impact. 📍In Bordeaux, as the city hosted the 19th Les Assises de l'économie de la mer and celebrated the Port’s centenary, this pioneering commitment to sustainability is more relevant than ever. For the Grand Port Maritime de Bordeaux, this project offers an exciting opportunity to refine practices, improve environmental performance, and reduce impacts on the Gironde Estuary. Green Marine Europe
Transport maritime
Green Marine Europe is an environmental certification program dedicated to the European maritime industry.
À propos
[en français ci-dessous] In 2019, Surfrider Foundation Europe, in collaboration with Green Marine Alliance, coordinated the adaptation of the North American environmental certification for the European sector. The actors responsible for this adaptation include European ship owners and maritime transport stakeholders, creating a tool capable of supporting them in improving their environmental performance on a European scale. To receive the Green Marine Europe label, applicants must measure their environmental performance annually using the program's self-assessment guides, submit their results for external verification by an independent verifier accredited by Green Marine Europe, and agree to publish their individual results.
