✍ New blog post!  We’re starting the week sharing a reforestation success story we’re very proud of: the Mount Kei Reforestation Project in #Uganda!  The Mount Kei Central Forest Reserve has faced significant environmental degradation in recent years, with only 2% of remaining intact forest. To address this, we’ve spent the past two years working alongside Equatoria Forestry Company (EFC) and Form International to lay the groundwork for this ambitious project.  Our mission?  🌳 Restore 27,000 hectares of natural forests 🪵 Develop 15,000 hectares of commercial tree plantations featuring high-value species like teak But this project is about much more than just planting trees! 🌱New hummingbird joining our team!  We are very excited to welcome Vanessa Schetz who has joined our #Brazil office as a Project Developer Intern. 👉 Vanessa is a final-year Agronomic Engineering student at the University of São Paulo (USP) with a strong background in sustainability and agribusiness, a passion she discovered during her exchange year in Germany.   🔎 She has conducted ESG analyses at the Center for Carbon Research in Tropical Agriculture (CCarbon), contributed to microbial control research as a CNPq Research Fellow, and worked with the gMAP group using drones to monitor soil conditions with Agriculture 4.0 technologies.       Based in #SaoPaulo, Vanessa will support our team in project development across #LatinAmerica, with a special focus on Brazil.        Welcome to the team! 

As yesterday was #WorldWetlandsDay, we want to start the week by drawing attention to these vital ecosystems, which, unfortunately, are disappearing three times faster than forests and are Earth’s most threatened ecosystem.     🔴 In just 50 years, we’ve lost 35% of the world’s wetlands, according to the latest UN data...    💧But why are wetlands so important? Although they cover only around 6% of the Earth’s land surface, 40% of all plant and animal species live or breed in. 🌱New hummingbirds joining the flock!     We are very happy to welcome Loraine Gabriel who has joined our team as Key Accounts and Europe Project Director.      👉 Loraine brings over 14 years of international experience working with large corporates and financial institutions, with a focus on impact finance across structured finance, trade finance, and private debt management.    She holds a triple Master in management from ESCP Europe Business School (Paris), City University London, and ESCP Europe Wirtschafsthochschule (Berlin).      Based in #Paris, Loraine will take the lead in structuring hummingbirds’ commercial department, as well as overlooking projects across Europe.      Welcome to the team!
