A long awaited new episode in the thrilling series "Sydnones and Ball-milling" 😱 Watch out: spoil alert 📢 Straightforward halogenation of sydnones was enabled by ball-milling at room temperature. By rising the temperature in the same conditions, a rearrangement into oxadiazolinones occurred. Experimental data and DFT calculations shed light on the mechanism. Je suis très reconnaissante à toute l’équipe pour l’opportunité offerte, ainsi que le savoir et le savoir-être transmis. 🔥 Heatwave in mechanochemistry 🔥 Have you heard about thermo-mechanochemistry ? When ⚙ mechanical energy is not enough to promote a reaction, heating will bring the necessary push to form the product. And this can be done with an innovative method just published in Angewandte Chemie. Our epoxy-made milling jars, doped with a dye absorbing in the NIR, will absorb the wave of an adapted lamp, then release the heat produced, inside the jar, and all this while milling. The International Symposium on Mechanochemistry (Mech’cheM 2015) held in Montpellier in 2015 gathered prominent speakers and participants from all areas of chemistry, demonstrating the infinite applications of mechanochemistry. Where are we now, ten years later ? Mech’cheM 2025: New forces in Mechanochemistry will be the occasion to provide an update on the newest developments, from technological advances (reactive extrusion, reactive acoustic mixing, ball-milling…) used in many areas of chemistry (organic, inorganic, material science, catalysis...) to a broad width of applications (synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients, batteries, biomass conversion, or plastics degradation...).
