It's by doing that we learn! 💡   At Imagineering, #testing is a crucial focus. Testing doesn’t always take us where we thought it would, but it always teaches us something.   As an aerospace manufacturer, we generate heat during the production of parts, particularly through the curing process, which involves heating a part to alter its mechanical properties. 🏭   It is from this observation that we launched the project to recover waste heat, aiming to reduce the impacts associated with such technologies. 🌍   👉 Waste heat is residual thermal energy generated by industrial processes, usually lost to the environment. Our initial idea was to convert this thermal energy into electrical energy. This conversion is theoretically possible using a thermodynamic machine such as an Ericsson engine or an ORC cycle. ⚡   However, in practice, this solution proved to be more complex than anticipated... 🚧   For this conversion to be effective, a substantial heat source with very high temperatures is needed, and ours does not meet these requirements. Moreover, the initial investment for such a machine is significant, requiring a return on investment (ROI) that is often high, not to mention potential maintenance costs.   However, this is not the only viable solution! Other valorization alternatives exist, such as preheating processes, heating offices, or heating hot water tanks. In our case, the chosen solution is the use of thermal batteries. These batteries are charged with heat during one cycle and discharged during the next cycle for better energy efficiency. ⚡🌍   Although we did not achieve our initial goal, our tests led us to other alternative solutions! ✅   Let us know if you hear about waste heat and if you tested anything in comments 👇
