Une caractéristique importante du CIRC est son expertise dans la coordination de la recherche entre différents pays et différentes organisations : son rôle indépendant, en tant qu’organisation internationale, favorise cette activité. Le Centre porte un intérêt particulier à la conduite de recherches dans des pays à ressources faibles et moyennes par le biais de partenariats et de collaborations avec les chercheurs de ces régions.
