Did you miss the latest article from Diane Coyle, member of IPSP, published on the Global Solutions Initiative website? 📢 Measuring What Matters: Recalibrating Economic Assessments In her piece, Diane Coyle calls for updating economic metrics to include sustainability and social well-being to address today’s pressing challenges. 🌍 GDP alone fails to capture environmental, social, and human resources. ✅ Nature has been used for free—now the bill is due. ✅ Comprehensive wealth, including natural, social, and human capital, must underpin economic measurement. To move forward: 🔹 Develop a balance sheet for lasting resources enabling future generations to thrive. 🔹 Root new metrics in sustainability for meaningful global action. 👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/gDybZWfv

Collective intelligence for action

As a new year begins, we would like to send a positive message to our community and beyond. The ambitious social progress agenda we collectively defined in 2024 can help us move towards just, democratic, and sustainable societies. Local, regional, and global solutions do exist to overcome the challenges that humanity and the planet currently face. We are extremely grateful for the decisive engagement and contributions of all our members and partners toward shaping our new strategic ideas and plans. The working groups that have started forming and designing their work programs in 2024 will deliver a powerful front of transdisciplinary research and intersectoral action addressing key challenges of our time. In 2025, we will create synergies between the many wonderful initiatives, projects, and programmes that have been developed by changemakers, be they social entrepreneurs, scholars, philanthropists, activists, experts or simple citizens. We will give more visibility to these inspiring examples and leaders and support them to be more impactful in the design of public and private policymaking at all scales and levels. Together we will provide a positive vision of our collective future, powerful narratives to mobilize actors, and accessible tools to implement the best solutions at all relevant scales. We are energised and optimistic about our collective ability to advance the social progress agenda and to create a strong momentum around the principles and values that will guide our concrete actions. We wish you a wonderful start to the New Year and look forward to amplifying our crucial work together in 2025. 📢 Key Insights on COP29: From Failure to Disappointment Did you miss the latest article published last November from Dennis J. Snower member of IPSP? In his latest article, Dennis Snower reflects on COP29’s outcomes, where promises outweigh delivery once again. 🌍 While a $1.3 trillion pledge to support climate action was agreed, it lacks credible implementation mechanisms. ✅ The private sector faces no obligation to deliver. ✅ Governments are not bound to honor commitments. To move forward: 🔹 Policy and governance frameworks must align profit pursuit with environmental sustainability. 🔹 Incentives, penalties, and binding agreements are crucial for real progress. 👉 Read the full article here: https://lnkd.in/dUPFpm5r 👉 Discover more articles on the website of the Global Solutions Initiative
