It was an absolute pleasure for us to welcome Dr. Maky Zanganeh, CEO of Summit Therapeutics, Inc., who holds a very special place in our Institute’s history! We first met her as a young dental student, and today, she has graced the cover of #Forbes magazine as the first Iranian immigrant woman billionaire in the United States! She was accompanied by her son, Shaun, who, despite his young age, is already a savvy investor. The purpose of her visit was to witness the evolution of the Institute she has known since its inception. It was also to introduce Prof. Jacques Marescaux to Mr. Nader Sadrzadeh, CEO of the start-up DeepSight Technology, in which she recently invested. Together, they discussed potential collaborations and using #IRCAD (certified as a GBP) to conduct the preclinical tests required for obtaining FDA and CE certifications. #surgery #minimallyinvasivesurgery

We are all very admirative of his chairmanship, as this is the 10th hospital it has built! L’IRCAD a été profondément attristé d’apprendre le décès du Professeur Jacques Périssat, membre honoraire de l'Académie Nationale de Chirurgie , qui occupe une place très importante dans l’histoire de notre Institut. Avec Philippe Mouret, le Professeur Jacques Périssat fut l’un des pionniers et visionnaires de la chirurgie laparoscopique. C’est lui qui avait convaincu le Professeur Jacques Marescaux de l’avenir de la chirurgie mini-invasive, lors d’une présentation qu’il a donnée en 1988 pour exposer la première cholécystectomie qu’il avait réalisée. Sans cette discussion, l’IRCAD n’aurait jamais vu le jour. Toutes les équipes présentent leurs plus sincères condoléances à ses proches. ______________________ IRCAD was deeply saddened to learn of the death of Professor Jacques Périssat, honorary member of the Académie Nationale de Chirurgie, who played a major role in shaping the history of our Institute.   Along with Doctor Philippe Mouret, Professor Jacques Périssat was one of the pioneers and visionaries in the field oflaparoscopic surgery. In 1988, he gave a presentation on the first cholecystectomy he had ever performed, and it was during this defining presentation that he convinced Professor Jacques Marescaux of the promising future of minimally invasive surgery. Without it, #IRCAD would never have seen the light of day.   All our teams extend their deepest condolences to his family and friends.
